US Elections (& Politics) :)

Hard to watch this country decay so rapidly. I mean the empire has been declining but the fall US after Trump has been precipitous. The idea of it being the moral beacon of the world is out the window. Grifter in Chief has been enriching his family to levels unseen while sowing hate toward nonwhites. It's depressing to see MAGA defend his every action.
I'm not knee-jerk defending Trump, but you have a couple of serious incorrect statements there. The big hate was sown by Obama, who divided up groups in many different ways and encouraged each group to hate the others. The hate toward nonwhites you claim isn't that at all. It's pushback against people who have broken the law, and when that happens to be concentrated in a certain ethnic group, the race card comes out. A lot of these problems wouldn't exist but for Biden encouraging people to break the law entering the country, then allowing them to feed off of generous welfare systems, which many figured out how to illegally milk while left leaning politicians ignored the illegal activity, and in some cases worked to protect it. As for the picture with your post, I too want the Epstein files to be released.

I know Trump can do no wrong, but you really should think about some of the actions he’s taking with a big picture long term view.

I really think at this point he could twist the heads off of kittens on live tv and tell you they’re evil Democrats and are stealing from you and many would cheer.

It’s sad

All politicians can and will do "wrong" I think Trump cares for America and has been assassinated at twice. Not only the lawfare he and his family's went through. It's his last year. let him kick some ass. He'll never clean the swamp, but he's trying and that more than his predecessor ever did.

Trump administration freezes $129M in Minnesota food stamp funding amid fraud scandal

The Trump administration has taken action in response to Minnesota's decade-long social services fraud scandal, which could cost taxpayers $9 billion. The U.S. Agriculture Department announced a freeze on $129 million in food stamp funding for Minnesota. This move is part of the administration's broader effort to address welfare fraud in Democratic states.

The Government Accountability Office estimates that the federal government loses up to $521 billion annually to fraud. Last week, Vice President J.D. Vance announced a Justice Department task force to investigate fraud nationwide.

"Those programs should go to American citizens, not be defrauded by Somali immigrants and others," Vance said.

In Minnesota, 98 individuals have faced federal charges, with 85 of them being part of the state's large Somali community. Republicans have accused Gov. Tim Walz and other Democrats of ignoring the fraud due to the Somali population's significant voting influence for the Democratic Party. "They've turned a blind eye," Republicans claim. However, Democrats argue that Republicans are unfairly targeting a minority community.

"The fraud is very real," said Minneapolis Mayor Jacob Frey. "And by the way, when somebody commits fraud, you prosecute. And yeah, you put the person in jail as an individual. You do not hold an entire community, any community, accountable for the actions of individuals."

Democrats turned our treasury into a ‘piggy bank for fraudsters’

As the details of Minnesota’s widescale social services fraud blew up on social media over the Christmas holidays, it was hard to miss the contrast between the reaction of Republicans and Democrats. While Republicans were outraged, Democrats minimized and denied the very existence of the problem.

With each new revelation of systemic fraud against the American taxpayer, we’re seeing a common denominator. Fraud protections have been deliberately bypassed in the pursuit of progressive political goals. Whether by incompetence or design, Democratic policies have turned the federal treasury into a piggy bank for fraudsters.

American taxpayers have always been a fat target. But the industrial scale of the fraud that has been revealed in the last year is coming through programs apparently designed with glaring vulnerabilities that seem engineered for exploitation.

The scope of the theft is staggering. In Minnesota’s Medicaid and social services programs under Democratic Gov. Tim Walz, an estimated $9 billion or more has been stolen – potentially half of the $18 billion administered. Politicians waived audits, ignored whistleblowers and relaxed verification rules in favor of equity-based distributions, effectively inviting "fraud tourists" from out of state to set up shell companies.

EMMER WARNS WALZ COULD END UP 'IN CUFFS' AMID MINNESOTA FRAUD CLAIMS

Minnesota’s Feeding Our Future scam alone saw $250 million vanish into fake meal programs for nonexistent kids, with funds laundered overseas or splurged on luxuries. That’s one state.

On the federal level, the COVID-19 relief bonanza under former President Joe Biden's $1.9 trillion American Rescue Plan incentivized fraud to obscene levels, with an estimated $420 billion in waste, fraud and improper payments — far exceeding initial Trump-era outlays. Programs like expanded unemployment insurance and PPP loans saw billions claimed by dead people, duplicate filers or fake businesses,...

Bronx building Mamdani used to showcase new housing commish’s talents has 200 violations — after favored nonprofit ran it into the ground

A Bronx apartment building Mayor Mamdani showcased to highlight the talents of his new housing commissioner, Dina Levy, has racked up nearly 200 unresolved violations, The Post has learned.

The 102-unit building at 1520 Sedgwick Ave. in Morris Heights as of Saturday had a staggering 194 open housing-code violations dating back to 2016 — including 88 “Class C” violations considered “immediately hazardous.”

They included rat and roach infestation; broken doors and refrigerators; and mold, records show.

Mamdani visited the affordable-housing complex best known for being the birthplace of hip-hop on Jan. 4 to introduce Levy, 54, a longtime tenants’ rights advocate and former state housing honcho, as his new Housing Preservation and Development commissioner.

He gushed how Levy — who grew up the silver-spooned daughter of two high-powered DC lawyers – has non-profit experience in building and overseeing affordable housing, a perfect fit for his leftist housing agenda that seeks to replace private landlords wherever possible.

Tenants told The Post conditions were better under the old, private landlord.

“I have been here over 20 years, and I preferred it when it was under private management because they used to screen people in and out of the building,” said Mordistine Alexander, among the dozens of tenants at 1520 Sedgwick whose homes have open HPD violations.

Alexander, 49, who has rented her three-bedroom apartment since 1999, said the unit routinely lacks heat and hot water, its bathroom and kitchen facades are crumbling and windows need to be replaced

Wall Street ticks to records after shaking off worries about Trump’s feud with the Fed

NEW YORK (AP) — Wall Street ticked to more records Monday after bouncing back from losses taken because of worries about the worsening feud between the White House and the Federal Reserve, one that experts warn could lead to higher inflation in the future.

The S&P 500 tacked 0.2% onto its prior all-time high set on Friday. The Dow Jones Industrial Average recovered an early loss of nearly 500 points and added 86, or 0.2%, to its own record, while the Nasdaq composite gained 0.3%.

Some nervousness was still evident in the market, though, amid concern that the Fed may be on the path to less independence in setting interest rates to keep inflation under control. Prices for gold and other investments that tend to do well when investors are nervous rose, while the value of the U.S. dollar dipped against other currencies.
