Oregon sues to block Trump from deploying troops to Portland

It notes that protests outside the Immigration and Customs Enforcement facility in Portland have been small in recent weeks, typically drawing less than 30 people.

Defendants’ heavy-handed deployment of troops threatens to escalate tensions and stokes new unrest,” the suit says.

The governor said she shared her strong objections with Trump during a seven-minute phone call on Saturday after waking up to his social media post.

She said Trump had told her during that call that he thought Portland’s federal courthouse was “under attack,” which she said was absolutely not true. She informed him that the only demonstrations occurring were outside the federal immigration building and they were “being managed.”

Scott Jennings: The Comey Complainers Should Choke On Their Hypocrisy
Radio host and CNN commentator Scott Jennings on "The Scott Jennings Show" told critics of the indictment of former FBI Director James Comey to "choke on it" for their outrage.
"For all of you who ever said, no one is above the law, or said that institutions of justice are sacred and cannot be questioned, or described Donald Trump as a 34 felon, you know what I say? Choke on it. Just choke on it," Jennings said.

SCOTT JENNINGS: As for the reaction to all of this, the weeping and gnashing of teeth from the no one is above the law crowd could be heard around the world last night. If you've looked at any news sources today, you've heard the word unprecedented thrown around endlessly, which tells me that apparently nobody knows what the definition of that word actually is. But please spare me the outrage over political prosecutions.
For all of you who ever said, no one is above the law, or said that institutions of justice are sacred and cannot be questioned, or described Donald Trump as a 34 felon, you know what I say? Choke on it. Just choke on it.

Honestly, if you cheered the political prosecutions of Donald Trump on cases that were clearly novel and made up just for him, just for politics, choke on it. If you are lamenting today, whoa, this was five years ago, and yet you cheered on the criminalization of a liaison Trump had in 2006, choke on it. If you're whining about the use of process to punish people, but you cheered the use of process to cripple Trump, the candidate, Trump, the president, and his people, choke on it.

If you're worried about revenge, let me...

Poor Scott Jennings gets smacked around so much on CNN he just had to try to strike back with his "choke on it" BS hoping he could get under someone's skin. It shouldn't be too interesting to see how this trial goes when Miss Colorado USA third runner-up runs into Comey's little friend:

The man enlisted to save James Comey

Capitol gains kicks in over $500,000 profit above what you paid for your house for married couples.

Not much help for the bottom 50%
I think in some cases it will be a good help. Take a couple who bought a house 30 years ago or more when it was possible with a middle class income. Now they're retired living month-to-month on social security, paying no income tax. That house now can max out the $500k gain, and selling it would result in a bunch of income tax that could have gone to their kids who now can't afford a house on a middle class income. If one spouse dies, it gets a lot worse. Assuming at least a 500k gain, at least 250k is taxable. In the 15% marginal bracket that's $37.5k that could have gone to the struggling kinds instead of paying for things like congresscritter hush money payments.

I'm viewing whatever I leave behind as a help for the kids and grandkids who are trying to survive in a system rigged against them.

Yes, it will be a good help for many... but the "Alert" fails to mention the existing $250K/$500K exclusion, which I find misleading:

Of course, if the parents don't sell the house and the kids inherit it, the kid's cost basis is the fair market value on the date of the parent's death, which can significantly reduce or eliminate capital gains the kids would be liable for when they eventually sell.

Socialists don't like this step-up in basis... The "socialist" term gets thrown around a lot these days... I find this issue perfect for helping determine who leans socialist, and who doesn't:

True there are advantages for some with any rule change. But the vast majority that benefit are the wealthy, even with older people.

Also, if passing down as inheritance, you’re likely better off not cashing out but allowing the children to inherit the home
When you inherit a home, the IRS gives you a stepped-up cost basis to the property’s fair market value at the date of death. This often eliminates or reduces capital gains when you sell, even though the primary residence exemption rules do not apply in the traditional sense.

Who

The capital gains tax exemption for homeowners primarily benefits those who meet the eligibility criteria and have significant capital gains from the sale of their primary residence. Here are the key demographics and characteristics of homeowners who would benefit from this exemption:

I'm not a big fan of DEI either, but is Michelle Obama really a DEI hire?
None of those he speaks about is very smart. I think Charlie would say the same about a white person with similar intelligence. But they all are prime examples of DEI in action, and he's just calling it out. He worked with Candace who is actually super smart, like light-years smart over those he called out.

Is Candace super smart and/or super nuts? Or is this fake news?

Jessie has come a long way since his days of being Bill O'Reilly's lap dog... Yes Jessie, we can't get this violent criminal off the streets fast enough. Well, we don't want to disappoint Jessie, so here's a fake mugshot to hold him over until he gets to gloat about the real thing:

Unfortunately for Jessie, law-abiding Comey will not be arrested in the traditional sense but will be turning himself in... eventually Jessie will be very disappointed when Comey is found innocent... if the flimsy case even makes it to trial. LOL
