D.C. police can alert ICE during traffic stops under new order
D.C. police officers making traffic stops can now notify U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement agents about encounters with undocumented immigrants, per an order the police chief issued Thursday.

Why it matters: Days after President Trump took control of the city's police force, sanctuary protections are being rolled back in D.C. The big picture: Trump praised the move Thursday, saying that a next step for nationwide immigration enforcement would be identifying undocumented immigrants during traffic stops.

"I think that's going to happen all over the country. We want to stop crime," Trump said during remarks in the Oval Office. When asked by reporters, Trump did not say whether his administration pressured Metropolitan Police Chief Pamela Smith to change D.C.'s policy. State of play: Smith's order, first reported by NBC4, allows officers to share information with federal immigration agents about people "not in custody (e.g., during traffic stops)."

MPD can also provide transportation for immigration agents or detainees. Context: D.C.'s sanctuary city law — which has been under threat — prohibits local police from cooperating with ICE to detain undocumented immigrants…

By the numbers: Dozens of immigration-related arrests have been made under Trump's emergency crackdown in the District, including 29 on Wednesday night, a White House official tells Axios...

You've drank the koolaid if you think most of social media is porn and that this is about porn. ;)
Kinda like the BBB was going to raise your salary by $11,000 and stop seniors from paying tax on SS.

The EU is already trying to strongarm us to adopt their rules because geography doesn't mean squat online. What happens when Louisiana says everyone has to play by their rules.?
Great Britain started there a very short time ago, now they're arresting people for posting anything not deemed friendly to Muslims.

You're banking on "honest" people making the rules and not using it for anything more sinister.

Good luck with that

Uh, maybe I've had too much bourbon but I believe I've been misquoted: "Oh, so much of that social media stuff is "porn" or if you prefer "poison" to the undeveloped minds of kids." I'm celebrating the United States gubermint leaving a sovereign State alone to make their own laws.

I'm really not for a Harvard or Yale educated New Yorker sitting in robs telling Mississippi to remove a State law given it had not been ruled UNCONSTITUTIONAL. Seems to me that the people of Mississippi voted for this OR they voted for the people in their elected gubermint to enact this with the powers granted to them. And, if at some point they decide that said gubermint is out of control they are certainly FREE to vote them out and vote someone else in to remedy any perceived or actual abuse of power not granted to them by their citizens. If it's kept within their border then every time I'm gonna go with STATES RIGHTS and the people of that State when not unconstitutional. It doesn't mean I agree with any law they deemed as good or even zany but I'll leave it to them and keep my Floriduh ass out of it.

The EU can fuck themselves and if their member States gave up their rights to the EU then they don't need to fuck themselves again since they already have. If the EU member States are being manhandled by their overlords who were not granted the specific rights to fuck all their members over then my sympathies are with those member States who rebel against the Eurotrash Union. If they keep it within their border then TOO BAD, SO SAD.

Now everyone back to your regularly scheduled porn....:winktongue:

Welp don't complain when you're asked for ID, (DL or retina scan) to prove you're of age to access IPCT (and porn)

Can I borrow your ID? ;)

Another Win for Trump?

Seems like all the judges are rigged?

WASHINGTON (AP) — A federal judge on Thursday struck down two Trump administration actions aimed at eliminating diversity, equity and inclusion programs at the nation’s schools and universities.

In her ruling, U.S. District Judge Stephanie Gallagher in Maryland found that the Education Department violated the law when it threatened to cut federal funding from educational institutions that continued with DEI initiatives.

The guidance has been on hold since April when three federal judges blocked various portions of the Education Department’s anti-DEI measures.

The ruling Thursday followed a motion for summary judgment from the American Federation of Teachers and the American Sociological Association, which challenged the government’s actions in a February lawsuit.

The case centers on two Education Department memos ordering schools and universities to end all “race-based decision-making” or face penalties up to a total loss of federal funding. It’s part of a campaign to end practices the Trump administration frames as discrimination against white and Asian American students.

There is hope the madness will be stopped:

ORLANDO, Fla. (AP) — A federal judge has struck down key parts of a Florida law that helped parents get books they found objectionable removed from public school libraries and classrooms. It is a victory for publishers and authors who had sued after their books were removed.

U.S. District Judge Carlos Mendoza in Orlando said in Wednesday’s ruling that the statute’s prohibition on material that described sexual conduct was overbroad.

Mendoza, who was appointed by President Barack Obama, also said that the state’s interpretation of the 2023 law was unconstitutional.

Among the books that had been removed from central Florida schools were classics like Margaret Atwood’s “The Handmaid’s Tale,” Richard Wright’s “Native Son” and Kurt Vonnegut’s “Slaughterhouse-Five.”

“Historically, librarians curate their collections based on their sound discretion not based on decrees from on high,” the judge said. “There is also evidence that the statute has swept up more non-obscene books than just the ones referenced here.”

After the Republican-controlled Florida Legislature passed the law, school officials worried that any sexual content was questionable, a belief that was enforced by new state training that urged librarians to err on the side of caution. Last year, Florida led the nation with 4,500 removals of school books.

Wrong, Medicaid is for citizens and those who immigrated here legally. Activist judge changes it to "residents".

Trump's federal staff purge will result in unprecedented amount of exits by the end of the year says chief personnel officer

Donald Trump's White House will purge around 300,000 federal workers this year as part of his ambitious bid to streamline the civil service.

The massive cull represents a 12.5 percent cut to the workforce, which Trump has complained is bloated and inefficient.

Office of Personnel Management director Scott Kupor said 80 percent of those workers would leave voluntarily and only 20 percent would be fired.

The figure is almost double the amount of workers reported to have taken buyouts last month.

Upon taking office in January, President Donald Trump launched a massive campaign to downsize the 2.4-million strong federal civilian workforce.

The Trump administration started sending emails to thousands of federal workers in January, offering them a chance to voluntarily vacate their government posts while remaining on the payroll for months.

'I cannot force people to lay people off,' Kupor said in an interview in Washington on Thursday.

He said he would have to persuade cabinet secretaries to buy into his vision of government efficiency.

The comments contrast with the first few months of Trump's second term, when OPM leadership explicitly directed agencies to dismiss employees new to their roles, according to a court filing.
