Quite possibly the most disgusting, childish reply to a reporters question ever to come out of the mouth of an elected official

Trump: "You know, it's not the question that bothers me, it's your attitude. I think you're a terrible reporter. It's the way you ask these questions. You start by addressing a very respected man to ask him a horrible, insubordinate, and just plain awful question. You could have asked that same question politely. They're all worked up, someone predisposes them from ABC, they're going to predispose them...
You're a terrible person and a terrible reporter. As for the Epstein files, I have nothing to do with Jeffrey Epstein..."
Rather than saying why he won't release the files, Trump takes one of those long detours he's already accustomed us to. He goes through the tone of the question, the manners, ABC, and the journalist's professional quality. He even calls her "insubordinate," as if she worked for him. In the end, he gets to the one place no one had sent him and drops a "I have nothing to do with Jeffrey Epstein."
She hadn't asked him that. Trump had to invent a question just to be able to answer something.
The scene is directed, moreover, at the rest of the journalists. Trump works on the next question. The insults, the loss of access, the lawsuits, and the threats against the outlet mark how far it's convenient to go. If the next correspondent gauges the tone before opening their mouth, the strategy has already worked.
The files, of course, remain closed.
Trump attacks the entire press, but with women he usually reserves a more personal humiliation. He questions their bodies, their faces, their voices, their manners, and even if they smile. The bully always carefully chooses who to play tough with. God, what decadence. Presidents, governors, and mayors who act tough and can't even make an O with a glass.

The Senate confirmed Trump's personal lawyer as Attorney General of the United States.
The man who defended Trump in criminal court, who mishandled and refuses multiple court orders to release the Epstein files release, who met with Ghislane Maxwell in secret, who created a slush fund to pay off political allies, and who gave Trump immunity.
That guy will now run the Department of Justice.

MAGA didn’t simply choose a leader. It chose a fantasy. And once that fantasy became part of their identity, almost anything could be rewritten to protect it.
Think about where it started.
A movement angry at the country and desperate for someone to take control didn’t choose a statesman, a constitutional scholar, a military leader, or someone with decades of public service.
It chose a brand.
A reality-TV personality whose record was already littered with bankruptcies, lawsuits, debt, failed ventures, scandal, and a carefully manufactured image of success.
None of it was hidden.
It was simply rebranded.
Eventually, he became more than their leader. He became permission.
Permission to stop questioning their anger.
Permission to ignore inconvenient facts.
Permission to mistake grievance for patriotism.
Permission to treat accountability as an attack.
Permission to believe that anything threatening the fantasy must itself be corrupt.
And that may be the most dangerous part of any political movement: when loyalty to a person becomes more important than loyalty to the truth.
