**UPDATED**SUCCESS**CRACKED*Swann PROPRIETARY camera-can't see it on the network-Swann SWNHD-865MSB

Don't even bother with firmware updates on this crap. if you bought an Andy NVR and your budget is tight you could replace the Swanns with inexpensive Amcrest (Dahua OEM) and get compatibility in the NVR.
Swann is all about locking you into the the Swanniverse of products. dont fall for it.

Copy... and i understand your sentiment but....they aren't locking me into anything, i already have them (i did not and would not buy them). They aren't worth anything to sell so i may as well use them till i replace them or they die, i know swann is rubbish, but they can at least alert me so i can check one of the good cameras. The NVR has 32 channels and I intend to make use of most as we have a lot of area to cover, so i'd prefer not to have to replace all 14 working cameras at once after just dropping a fair some on my latest purchase.

Even if i can find a copy of the firmware they may not connect anyway, so i may be forced to bin them or use them without the NVR but i hope not so i can draw out the process of spending more cash to clear out the crap.

Well apparently swann are just a little simple minded or I am one of the two.

I searched for the firmware on their site as many different ways as I could think of without success. But i eventually found that you are forced to follow a guide on how to update the firmware before you can actually download the file, WHY the hell anyone would think this was a good idea i do not know.

Anyway i managed to get all my swann POS updated and at least working on Agent DVR, so if anyone comes across this and wants to update their cameras, search for a guide not the file (regardless of whether the guide is fully relevant to you). All i can come up with is that they think everyone needs to have it dumbed to the nth degree or maybe they have done it just to be difficult. Who knows and i certainly don't care, but i thought i'd warn others in my boat.

FYI, I have just received my new Dahua NVR32CH-16P-2AI-S2 and with the newest firmware the NHD865MSB cameras will connect to the NVR. I found that all the new firmware cams were found automatically and added without issue. The old firmware cams were found but i could not get them to connect after adding the device to the NVR's list. I am not sure that they are fully functional but they at least give me video, sound and can be recorded, i have them setup to record full time in motion detection etc is flaky.

Just thought I'd record my findings here as to hopefully help someone else out.
