UniFi Gen 6 Cameras (still behind the competition)

Not sure what else to say - Ubiquiti's target audience for cameras are clearly for mainstream users; not for folks like us on this forum

A member of the Ubiquiti community told me that sensor size and camera body foam factor are not related to other; when clearly a bigger sized sensor requires a bigger foam factor. Take the fixed Color4K Turret that Andy sells here; big 1/1.2" sensor in a varifocal turret body foam factor; this won't fit the smaller sized fixed turret foam factor especially when you factor in other existing parameters like the LED lights.

Anyway, anyone here tried the G6 Turret? 1/1.8" 4K sensor and AI built in with LPR, lol.

• G6 Instant, WiFi connectivity, fixed horizontal FoV of 109.9°, 4K resolution, 1/1.8" sensor, all the latest and greatest AI features, $179

I'd say these are very competitively priced, but it's disappointing they don't...

I have both UniFi protect (2-doorbells, flex and an instant) and blue iris (3 hik & 7 Andy dahua) with cpai.

The UniFi ai is set it and forget it. Camera tuning seems way more straightforward compared to dahua which Thankfully for some great members here I’m getting them tuned in just fine, Hik on the other hand seems like it should be easier but results say otherwise.

Then there’s adoption, access and updating as long as you have the overpriced gear is simple for even a non network guy like me to figure out.

I couldn’t wouldn’t afford the high end cams and by the specs they don’t look worth it. If they’d fully support the onvif with UniFi ai without having to invest in a ton of add ons or subscriptions I’d be in heaven right now.

You and I are alike Good point regarding setting it and forgetting in the UniFi world. The price is what deters me in over-investing in Ubiquti cameras as well as the nightime performance of Andy's Dahua cameras still outperform Ubiquiti. With the way new Sony sensors are gradually trickling their way into the market, Ubiquiti is late to the party; still using older Omnivision sensors.
