Transfer Saved Parameters To Different Models Within Same Series?

Can I safely take a saved parameter file from a DS-7604NI-E1/4P and use it on my new DS-7608NI-I2/P or should I just note the old settings as best I can and start new with the new NVR. TIA.
 
The format of the device configuration file and whether it's encrypted or not varies somewhat with the version of firmware.
What versions do your NVRs have?
