Holy Smokes! What the heck is wrong with people
Vivian Savella was a
4-year-old girl from
Houston who was fatally shot by her mother following a custody hearing on
Tuesday, September 29, 2026. Police reported the shooting occurred at approximately
5:45 p.m. at a home on
Terra Reserve in west Houston, where Vivian’s stepfather and a babysitter discovered the victims after hearing gunshots.
Vivian was pronounced dead at the scene, while her
mother was hospitalized in critical condition after turning the gun on herself; however, police later confirmed the
mother also died in
October 2026. The tragedy occurred shortly after a judge granted
primary custody of Vivian to her father,
Aaron Savella, with the child scheduled to return to his care that evening.
Aaron Savella and Vivian’s family expressed devastation through a statement released by their attorney, emphasizing that he had
trusted the courts and followed all legal orders. The family noted that while the court awarded supervised possession to the mother, the supervision agency was not yet aware of the new ruling, meaning no supervisor was present during the custody exchange.
