T54PRO-ZE vs IPC-Color4M-TZ

A couple of days ago when the wind was blowing the grass around I had 70 false detects on the S3 in a 2-hour period. When the wind is still, there's only an occasional false detect when it thinks a rock is an animal or a fence post is a person.

I’ve forgot. What do you use for detection?

There’s a huge difference between plain IVS, MD, SMD and BI and its various 3rd party ad ons

I've seen a number of these latest models come with MD on out of the box for example and it took me a bit because I never thought to go check it.
Plain MD as we know, or SMD for that matter are a guarantee of false alerts

I use IVS tripwires. I have to be careful with MD because BI has a habit of turning it on, so in all the cameras I clear the detect area, set sensitivity to zero, threshold to the max, and schedule to nothing. When I want to analyze a detection I go to smartPSS and can see the blue tripwire lines turning red as the grass dances.

Here's a rock (obscured by the camera name text) and a clump of grass the S3 likes to trip on. I think I'll go out and move the rock and beat down the clump of grass to see if that helps.

Must be the animal tracking... +sensitivity high, global sensitivity high, no min size, ?
What distance is that?

(Large Scale Models does produce obvious false alerts in the new cameras. Its not ready for prime time)

I have a number of cams with trees, shadows, ferns and tall grass waving in front of 5442's all day every day and have almost Zero false alerts.

I have had one S3 get fixated on a bush once, but a simple reboot of the camera solved it.

Big question here is 'all problems with WizColor' is simply from different/bad video processing or there is worse image sensor or open aperture create problems with softness of image (last one can be very true for IR).

If there is worse image/optics, then worth checking should be 5459-IL, which looking at spec sheet looks like is using the same sensor as in 5442-S3 (different to 5459-PRO)...

Dahua released with almost half year delay (firmware problems??? :) new 7 WizMind-7 series Dual Light cams...

25% bigger bullet chassis in comparison to latest 5x59-PRO.. only bullet and PTRZ dome..

4 and 8 Mpx on 1/1.8" sensor.. No 1/1.2"... Sensor is new generation of the same sensor used in previous 7xxx-X series (and 5442-S3). Very different to used in WizColor 5459-PRO

There is NO WORD about any AI-ISP or WizColor at all :)

Advanced image processing technologies: Time-Division Exposure (known from previous 7xxx-X where in VideoMetaData mode camera joined short and long exposure pictures to take bright image of moving people/cars with sharp face/car plate), Ghost-free WDR (so there is new DUAL-ISO sensor inside - which can in one shot do 2 pictures - with low and high ISO/gain at once - there is no delay between them), Xinghan face exposure, and Xinghan precise focusing.

PS. there is 7454-Z10 variant - with 8 to 80mm - 42 degree to 5.4 degrees horizontal... it has not only Video Meta Data with car plate OCR but also full ANPR mode with allow/black list for 10K car plates numbers..

Interesting - firmware starts from .49 (very high number version).. so there were a lot of internal testing...

Got my first interesting real use case for my IPC-COLOR4M-TL (3.6mm).
One person walking in front of my house around 3am, around 10 meters from the camera.
It was a total disaster...

The camera was set up with "Smart Illumination", so at first the camera was in IR mode: the person walking is almost transparent (I can see the background through that person).
Except if that person is using James Bond shit, this is some AI or encoding artifacts.
After some delay (4-5 seconds), the warm light is switched on, and then I have less than half a second of usable picture (with colors) and then the video goes almost completely black; as if the camera is overcompensating for the brightness.

Unfortunately I cannot share the video, because of privacy law.

Really, really disappointed by this camera picture so far.

Note: I am using @tmxv4128 settings given earlier in this thread.

One thing I have since set up for the Color4M-T overseeing the porch and front entry door is a motion detection zone with another camera for anyone entering my yard between 11pm-5am. The intrusion will send the alarm signal to my NVR, which then outputs to a wireless switch connected to a Smartthings hub, which then activates Alexa and turns on all the outside and porch lights with a verbal warning. After the intrusion, Alexa turns off the lights after 5 minutes and resets. Works great, and I no longer have to worry about the 4M-T not being able to provide an excellent image. Haven't had any false alerts since I set it up, and I walk-tested the area several times to make sure it worked well before putting it online.

If you want, I can take a look at the video. I'm also from Germany and post my stuff here from time to time. :)

Sure, thanks !
How can I send you the video ? It is around 9 MB.

Honestly I don't think there is any real risk (especially given how bad the video is) but you never know here.
Have you seen what kind of sign is necessary to display when you have cameras outside ?
This is ridiculous:

I'll have to test myself (as a subject) to see in which condition this weird behavior is happening exactly.
Normally the warm light is working correctly when I am not too far (around 5 meters).
But I haven't tested myself when I am a bit far away.
I am using the Home Assistant integration and I have access to the motion detection as well, so I can also switch on lights if necessary.

Send a message or simply post in the thread where everyone can see it. I don't have any signs hanging outside my house.

You can always post it for us to review and comment and then delete it if you are concerned about privacy.

Why not just use the S3 if you’re going to pour external light on it?
Still a better image IMHO

Yes, the S3 has a much better image, but the 4M-T has the speaker that works great. That's why I don't use the S3 there. The best speaker of all-time is the one in the Dahua N55DU82. Only problem is that it is worse than both the S3, S2, and 4M-T at night. In the daytime the image is probably even better than the S3. sigh A perfect camera would have a large sensor like the 4K-T, the optical ability like the S3, and the sound like the N55DU82. C'mon Dahua engineers--get at it!

If the person is transparent you have too much gain and too slow a shutter. You need gain below 50 on most cameras and a shutter below 8ms, preferably 6ms. At an absolute push you can use 12ms, but I've always found it blurry in some circumstances. If you can't get a usable picture with those settings you don't have enough light for colour and need to either use IR if available or supplemental white lighting if not. Affordable consumer Colour cameras cannot operate in no light situations only low light and even then there are minimum levels to get a decentish picture out.
