Just curious how you guys have this camera set up?

Are you having the camera do a scan back and forth?

Move from preset to preset? (How long between presets?)

Pattern?

I use the presets and have them switch every 5 mins. I thought about using the scan feature but I worried about wearing out the drive motor.

Scanning will miss so much, and wear the camera out prematurely.

The firmware is encoded with a movement limit and some folks have hit that limit within a year.

It is much better to use fixed cameras as spotter cameras to move the PTZ so certain presets.

We get this question from time to time, so I thought with the recent addition to BI, it made sense to have a thread we can point to.

Previously in BI, if you had more than one spotter cam, you could not make one a priority, so if spotter cam #1 triggered the PTZ and it starts tracking and spotter cam #2 is triggered, it would then take the PTZ off of spotter cam #1 tracking and move to the preset for spotter cam #2.

Now with BI 5.5.6.0, you can go into the PTZ tab in the Camera setttings and go to the preset that you want to have priority and check the "cancel alerts when the camera is...

Mine doesn't scan, but it is parked towards a house with kids. Inevitably it will be tracking one of them running down the sidewalk when someone is walking from the other direction.

But, again, all the more reason this should be a nice-to-have addition and not an anchor to a system.

That will miss stuff and prematurely may kill the camera if the internal counter decides it is too many movements.

When you setting up your IVS rules, you can set up Time Plan for each rules by clicking on add schedule.
