Review-Dahua/EmpireTech Dual lens IPC-HDBW5441F-AS-E2 (The Boobie Cam Upgrade)

Hello everyone,

Could someone confirm me I can safely flash the latest firmware from Dahua ( )
DH_IPC-HX5XXX-Volt_MultiLang_PN_Stream3_E2_V2.840.0000000.30.R.250227

Or should I only be using the latest from Andy?

I just bought one of these from Andy and would like to know about the firmware versions as well.

The firmware files referenced on Andy's site are as @Dellatino noted.

The version in the camera I just got appears to be newer: V2.840.15OG00G.0.R, Build Date: 2024-08-07

Perhaps @EMPIRETECANDY can comment.

* I flashed the new ones, no issues but I'm still an idiot in regards to the configuration

* Blue iris is ok; Synology can only find 1 of the 2 cams; I thought I had a blended view once (both of them together in 1) but I don't seem to be able to do that anymore. Despite the new firmware and the option to combine them in 1 stream according to the configuration.

Best regards,
Z

@Dellatino - just to make sure I understand, when you say "new ones" you mean DH_IPC-HX5XXX-Volt_MultiLang_PN_Stream3_E2_V2.840.0000000.30.R.250227 available from the firmware tab on ?

latest firmware from Dahua ( Dahua Technology - World-leading Video-centric AIoT Solution and Service Provide )
DH_IPC-HX5XXX-Volt_MultiLang_PN_Stream3_E2_V2.840.0000000.30.R.250227

Thanks for that.

Hopefully last question: The zip file contains two bin files:
DH_IPC-HX5XXX-Volt_MultiLang_PN_Stream3_E2_V2.840.0000000.30.R.250227.bin
firmware.bin
The first one is about 66 mb and the second (firmware.bin) is about 25 mb.
Did you apply both of these?

I have older Dahua cameras and have only ever had a single bin file for an upgrade.

See the last post in this thread for an attempt to answer this correctly: Correct sequence for firmware update?

See the rest of the thread for advice in regards to no firmware upgrades and why.

Are you saying the new firmware makes these like a 180 camera?

I thought I had a blended view once (both of them together in 1) but I don't seem to be able to do that anymore. Despite the new firmware and the option to combine them in 1 stream according to the configuration.

The configuration gives you the option to put both cams in 1 stream, I recall it worked a few years ago when I just got them, I haven't been able to do that since. Despite the newer firmware and the options still being there, I haven't managed to do it.

So no, I can't confirm it works. See camera settings > video > sub stream 2 config > output mode > splicing vs single stream

Thank you, Can you explain what you mean by 1 stream with these cameras?

Just got this installed. Would someone be able to assist with what I need to modify to pull Stream 2 into Blue Iris? The string mentioned earlier doesn't seem to work for me, but I can pull in stream 1 fine after using "Find/Detect".

Much appreciated.

I'm thinking of buying these camera and I'm confused by the number of streams this supports. The specs say:
Video Frame RateMain stream: 2560 × 1440 @(1–25/30 fps )
sub stream: 704 × 576 @ (1–25 fps)/704 × 480 @ (1–30 fps)
third stream: 1920 × 1080 @ (1–25/30 fps)
Stream Capability3 streams

Does this mean 3 streams for each of the two cameras, or 3 streams in total?

I would like to set it up with a main steam (full resolution high fps) and a detect stream (lower resolution and fps) for each camera, so 4 streams in total... is this possible?

I running four streams on mine without any issues. 2560x1440 15FPS, 1920x1080 15FPS, and two 704x480 10FPS

I have run this cam for several years now with two 2560x1440 15FPS, and two 704x480 15FPS (both h265). The entire time have noticed channel 2 never reaches and sustains 15fps, but fluctuates quite a bit centered around 6fps with bitrates around 350k, while channel 1 stays solid at 15fps with bitrate around 500k (mainstreams). I wasn't really sure why this was happening.

Recently I had some free time to experiment with it, and managed to get both channels stable using 10fps/10keyframe interval (same resolutions as before). The bitrates are both holding solid ~500k now. After considering why and doing some mental math estimates, it appears as though these cameras may be limited by a 10mbit interface, no? It's wired with cat6 to a gigabit poe switch. On that switch all of my dahua cams are showing a 10/100 connection. I haven't dug into my switch webui yet, but I suspect they're all on 10mbit phy, and the camera is prioritizing channel 1, and capping channel 2 to stay in range of the connection limits. If that's the case, it would explain why the single 4k cams can do 15fps no problem, but these dual cam setups have issues if you try and push them beyond 10mbps combined (either framerate or resolution reduced on one or both cams).

Anyone else have this observation, or am I trippin'? I noticed the above post mentions 1080 res on one of the cams, which sorta supports this theory.

[edit: Indeed, they all are on 10mbps phy. This totally explains why you will have issues trying to run both cams at 4k 15fps. Therefore I suggest users of this camera do some basic maths during setup, and choose resolution/framerates/encoding to suit your situation whilst keeping the bandwidth <10mbps.

I suppose it would be nice if Dahua put a 100mbit poe connection on this camera, to make better use of it's potential. ;)]
