Hello. Small business owner here with an aging (12+ year old) LTS NVR system (8832K and 8932 NVR's). We have over 100 channels on seven NVR's due to large space and a bunch of fish eye cams. Everything is recording H264. We want to either upgrade to newer NDAA NVR's or implement Blue Iris. We are tech savvy staff but I don't want someone to need to maintain it full time. I need it to be mostly set it and forget it like the current NVR's have been. I have been looking at LTS VSN8864-R 64 ch to replace the 32 ch current NVR's but before I do that I'd like to understand the benefits of implementing BI instead. Would I connect my current NVR's to BI or bypass them and go straight to BI? The IP cams are currently on PoE switches throughout our facility so we don't have home run wiring back to our data room.

My desire is to consolidate AND gain updated features AND improve recording efficiency. I am willing to buy new cameras where needed and I have access to a very powerfull Dell PowerEdge server to host BI.

What are my next steps?

Thanks.

Todd

Do you realize the NDAA is only applied to government organizations.
I believe it only federal or If local Govs are using any Federal grant money to update security. I still maintain a few towns with older Dahau stuff, Closed systems so Nobody cares. That being said, some States have adopted the same standards as the feds. I think I installed them before NDAA was a thing. BTW is it just me or so it seems every new Building in the private sector Uses Hikvision and dahua, I see them all over the place at every turn of the corner.

Since the cams are currently connected to POE switches, not POE NVR's and so likely have their own unique static IP's you can run them them directly to BI and bypass/eliminate the NVR.
