Hi,
My brother wants to get some security camera's as someone stole his son's bike from right outside his door. I have just got into camera's myself and am having a fun time learning about IP camera's.
My brother was looking at pre packaged systems on amazon that were around 300$ and many of them were BNC camera's with a DVR. I'm trying to talk him into getting IP camera's and some IPC-HDW5231R-Z camera's. He was initially looking at spending around $300 as he does not have a lot of disposable income. I'm going to try to convince him to buy one piece at a time.
So which NVR should he get that is on the cheap side and that either comes with PoE or we can buy a separate PoE switch. He does not have internet, so what I am thinking we can set static IP addresses for all his IP Camera's and view via a monitor connected to the NVR. He eventually wants to get internet but don't think it will be anytime soon. We could setup a wifi router if he wanted to remove view from his LAN, but for now we will probably go without a router.
So I'm thinking maybe 300-400$ for the NVR and then I can tell him to get the camera's later. Any ideas? Sorry I know it's a very low budget because if it was me I would spend the money but I guess if you don't have it you don't have it.
