Recommendations for a Camera upgrade from 2231R-ZE 2MP

I have several of the HDW2231R-ZE 2MP with the adjustable zoom, using BI. I am looking to upgrade this camera. Currently for the location i have it setup the zoom is about 3/4 the way in ( ~1800).
Would would be the recommended replacement ?

I would agree with Big Red. the next generation worth a shit would be the IPC-T54IR-ZE-S3 versions. Not exactly Apples to Apples, but I've had each one out there. ( earlier version before S3)

If you have enough light you could run the 8 megapixel version I suppose.

Are you using Infra-Red at night currently? if so the 8MP night in IR looks sharper then the 2231.

8mp in IR and then in color mode. this is an 8MP Lorex with a 1/2.8 CMOS sensor.
At least the Empiretech has the 1/1.8 CMOS so it will gather more light than this one.

You will see more detail with either the 4Mp or 8 Mp version. I like to tinker, and Ive been working with all the 4MP stuff now for a number of years. I'd be inclined to try the 8mp but thats just me.
You can't go wrong with the 4Mp, although it has a tendency in my version to be a bit oversharpened.

Keep in mind the streetlight doesn't really help you as the person is then in between the light and the camera and you get a backlit condition.

You probably need to remain with infrared unless you get a camera with white LED and you are willing to use them.

Snow helps night vision. You need to move north. Way north. Hell I dont know, maybe the one watching the cars.

I would do 2 cameras at the top right corner.
