I am having focus issues with my recently acquired PTZ6C2M-45X-AI.

First, I've already contacted Andy about this, and he is working on it. I've sent him pictures and he is dealing with the factory folks.

Second, I'm curious if anybody has had a similar issue with the same or similar camera models.

I recently bought a PTZ6C2M-45X-AI. It will not focus ) in the zoom range of 8-28x. 1-8x and 28-45x are both fine, day or night, indoors or outdoors.
The issue is that it seems to run out of "focus-". The isues are slightly better outside in daylight, with 18x being where it is always impossible to get a sharp focus.

Outdoors I am looking at distances around 30-100 meters. Ondoors is maybe 7 meters max.

It won't autotrack well because if it is resting between 1x and 8x, it will identify a target and zoom in. Then above 8x the image gets fuzzy and it loses the target.
Have any of you experienced a similar situation? What was the solution?

You said "The issues are slightly better outside in daylight" - does that mean you are trying it indoors? If so that is likely the problem. If you are shooting thru a window, or a window that is open it can be problematic, especially if there is a temperature difference between inside and outside (don't ask me how I know LOL).

Is it that way day and night?

Initially I mounted it outside and had issues. Andy asked me to move it inside because it was better in the day when the temp was higher, so we thought it was maybe temp related.

I brought it inside, clamped it to a chair, got the temp stabilized, then opened a window and looked outside so the wibdow didn't cause issues. Same issues with bluriness in the 8-28x range.

I also had tried it inside, looking out of my office into the hallway. Same blurriness. It was slightly better at 22x zoom looking at a light switch ~3.5m away, but either side of that was hopeless (except 1-8 & 28-45x).

I'm not an expert on optics but would love to learn more.

Obviously that ain’t right . Never had one do that.

I'm thinking it might be a warranty issue. No settings seem to help.

The only way I could see it as a software issue is if the software is not letting the iris motor turn far enough. I'm thinking it is a hardware issue.
