PTZ w/stored focus points and HTTP scripting?

Anyone know the equivalent HikVision model? The datasheet for the DS-2DE2A404IW-DE3 appears to be very, very similar to the datasheet for the LTS PTZIP204WX4IR, but I can't be sure.

Searching amazon for DS-2DE2A404IW-DE3(C0)(USA-STD)(S6)(C) results in mostly international/English models with allegedly upgradeable firmware, despite my explicitly putting USA in the search string, for $140 - $160.

That said, I wouldn't mind paying an extra $20 - $30 for true U.S. firmware, just for peace of mind against brickness.

Also, just to confirm, I'm assuming HikVision and LTS cameras speak ONVIF, and would work with BI, right?
So I ordered an Hik DS-2DE2A404IW-DE3, for $154.98+$14.72=$169.70 and I'll see if does what I want. It's already in Hodgkins, IL, so I should get it this week.

Good thing, too, as my Reolink PTZ looks like it's slowly dying. The live feed stalls more and more often each week, and it no longer takes certain settings.

Hope it works out for you. Every time I see this thread, reminds me of a movie I like The Beekeeper. Going to watch again second time since you started this thread lol

+1 for Dahua changing their firmware to store focus with PTZ preset!!

I think this single/minor feature would make it much easier to use big PTZs for long-range LPR, thus could potentially open-up new revenue opportunities for whichever manufacturers implement it..

Dahua/Andy- are you listening? :)

This seems so obvious to me, and I'm confident it would not be that difficult to implement.

Well oddly enough my 2 Amcrest IP2M-850EB and 853 and 858 cameras all support focus Presets as well. Still not something that would work well for LPR at night. I mean sure I have used the 850 and others to capture plates in the day time with spotter camera sending camera to presets.. However at night maybe could work but think time to preset could make it miss.. Plus full PTZ that is just static at one area with settings make it so dark can't see anything but plates might as well stick with a Static Zoom camera.. Cost less and small footprint.

Success!! This test video demonstrates that this camera definitely stores manual focus points for each preset:

Now I just have to get a junction box, put it out by the bees, and update my streaming configuration.

I finally got a chance to get this thing mounted out by the bees:

Live streams won't embed, so just click above.

I have 2 presets, because I'm down to 2 colonies right now, but I can't figure out how to set up a "cruise" or "patrol" path. The amazon page for that product has gone away, but the HikVision product page is still up, and its non-model-specific user manual shows this:

But my fully-updated web UI does not have this button:

Does this mean my "budget series" camera lacks this feature?

Can I still script a patrol or cruise via a bash script as I did with my Reolink?

So, that is why you don't see that setting :(
I should have read the specs more carefully, but it never occurred to me that a PTZ camera wouldn't have this.

Well, it's looking like I have to write/modify a script to do this ‍♂️

Unless I can get BI to do this. Is this what PTZ Auto-Cycle is for? I'm still trying to grok how to set that up.

I got ChatGPT to write me a script to cruise through N presets every M seconds, so we're good! The new camera is now streaming in place of the old camera:

BeeCam from Painted Peacock Manor

And now we have bee sounds, too, as the Hik camera has a mic. You can also hear the motor as it slews.

The YT stream has a slight tendency to stutter, but I don't think that's the fault of the camera, because if I download a 5 minute clip from BI, it doesn't stutter at all.

IQ is much better than that of the ancient Reolink RLC-423, and it stores focus points, which was the key missing feature, so I should get a much better experience in a few months when the air is filled with bees. They're out and about in sunny LA's winters, but not the way they'll be in April.
