On today’s episode of “Victor Davis Hanson: In His Own Words,” Hanson explains the phenomenon known as a “total systems collapse,” in which a society metaphorically implodes when it casts aside values like common sense and meritocracy and replaces them with diversity, equity, and inclusion as the base for society.

“  We are a very sophisticated society. We require meritocracy, empiricism, credentials. And we have very sophisticated transportation, education, health care, etc., etc. And if we don't follow the norms that gave us that prosperity, security, and freedom, then the system starts to break down. And we've seen the indices of that.

“ We saw that same systems collapse with the tragic killing of Iryna Zarutska. And everything went wrong. ... She came in there and there were four people around her, including the assailant. He killed her. But what kind of society is it where the four people adjacent, behind her just walk by her—watch the killer commit this horrific act of cutting her throat. And then after he leaves and he mutters, “Got the white girl,” then they don't do anything. They didn't do anything to stop it. They didn't do anything, just to walk a few feet over, a foot over, and try to help her in her death throes. What ideology is that that allows that to happen?"

Show of hands.....would the four people have more likely stopped the killer if they had a gun? I do question why, when "danger" of the killer being present passed why they didn't try to render aid sooner.

I do believe the reaction of everyone on that train is a result of how they were programmed (mostly by society). Everyone, witnesses, killer and victim....all the result of their programming. Iryna Zatutska was programmed to trust people? Maybe she was programmed not to give in to some preconceived notion of being "racist"? I think a lot of people would agree with but not publicly admit that the seat she selected is not the seat that a lot of people would have picked. I wish we could wind the clock back and change everyone's programming.

imho I agree - 100% .. programming, when the powerful State comes after the Ex-Marine for helping out in a subway incident, you bet others paid attention and do not wish to go through that hell the State did ..

I don't pick up on that. It's more like every time Trump speaks on something, what he says is different from the time before.

I just don't see how they could ever pull it off... the guys that mentioned the "ballot or the bullet" got it from Malcolm X? Anyway, I'd say we'd all be speaking Spanish before we're living under sharia law :)

I think the UK will be under Sharia before speaking Spanish ..
