I think we are technically in an experiment of our own making, and our spoiled lifestyles are moving society towards an inevitable conclusion.

Read up on the Mouse Utopia experiment. Unlimited food and water provided to mice and all their progeny, Population explosion, collapse, and all dead within about 1600 days with no actual biological disease present, but lots of social breakdown and deviant behaviors present, from extreme aggression to full isolation.

Feel like we are on this timeline somewhere... I wonder what the scale is for us?

Life has become too easy and people have too much free time. When people can survive without developing any skills or without producing something desirable then it says we are in decline.

In fact, I suspect ALL those running for elections run on platforms promising all sorts of stuff to "improve the lives of" [ insert voting district ]

Putin keeps running on the "improve Russian lives" and MRGA ..

The point ?

Each and every politician I know promises all sorts of things and you can NOT trust any of them. They all would be happy to rob you blind if you give them a chance.

DO NOT be blind .. open your eyes, Mamdani as slick as he is .. free buses and the like are actually really really bad ideas.
