Problem with BI phone app on Iphone

Recently had a lightening hit on a Unifi router running the blue iris system. Had to replace router resulting in new Public static address. Everything seemed to be working except we could not use the BI phone app outside of WiFi Range. We are using amcrest cameras, and they were showing up on the amcrest app. We forgot the old server on the phones and went through the setup wizard several time with several phones and scanned the qr code but still no cameras. We could access the cameras from an offsite desktop with BI UI by typing in the ip address. Still not on the phone app. Finally someone entered the IP address and port number manually in the phone and they worked. I would have thought by scanning the QR code in the BI app would have set all that up. I manage several BI set ups and have never had to manually enter the ip address into the phone. Has anyone else run into this, or am I overlooking something. I have spent over a week trying to get those cameras working on the BI app and the solution was accidently stumbled on and that's what got them up and running. Thanks, Cleve

Thanks for the follow up, glad you got it up and running.

Sorry you didn't get what you needed sooner but I never heard back from you after my Aug. 11th post...and FWIW, I have never used the wizard or scanned a code when setting up BI, have always just entered IP's and port manually.

Thanks Toney, I been running in 100 different directions and did not get back to you. Thanks for your help.

I think if you were using TAilscale VPN it would likely reconnect after the new router was configured regardless of the Static IP....without too much fussing around.
But Yeah, I have had to regain access to BI both ways.
manually filling out the WAN and LAN IP address, and also with the QR code.

With TailScale you would normally have to enter the tailscale dns name or IP that is shown in the TailScale admin console? Well. that's what I had to do on all the families mobile phones

The QR code simply opens a browser session with your local IP address doesn't it?

Well that's what it did for me when I last tried using it.

No, the QR code Im talking about is the one at the end of the "Remote Access Wizard". When setting up a phone, you add a new server. It gives you the option to manually set it up or skip to the end and scan the QR Code. From there you just scan in the QR code given at the end of the setup wizard with the phone and it automatically sets up the phone. I have never used the manual set on the phones.

Oh OK, I just went through the wizard as a test and then scanned the QR code and on my iPhone it just opened a browser page with the local ip address.

I think something may be wrong with the phone app. The IT guy we hired to check the router setup said that was the problem all along but I was hard headed and did not believe him. I never tried it manually but that did the trick. I just deleted my cameras from my phone and went through the setup wizard, scanned the QR code and it was all set up. I don't understand why it would do one thing for me and another for you and my cousins setup. But, I have learned something new!
