Would / Does this system work? I assume the camera doesn't care how it gets network as long as it gets it, straight home run or through powerlines? POE+ switch in between would act as the power distribution unit?

Did we not answer it in your other thread from Sunday? A POE+ switch is simply a switch that can provide power, but if it isn't needed, it just passes the data - no different than connecting to the wifi router port. As long as you have a powerline adapter on either end you should be good unless there is some funky wiring issues. YMMV.
