I have Pi-hole running on a Raspberry pi and would like to setup a tunnel vpn using OpenVPN on my Asus router for remote access to my Hikvision NVR. Am I going to run into any issues?

Why not just use the Asus? Better/cleaner in most cases if you put it at the edge. Or do you have an Asus router that doesn't have it built in?

@dryfly, I have PiHole running on two Rpi4. I installed OpenVPN on one of them via the install script on this page: PIVPN: Simplest way to setup a VPN and installed Wireguard on the second RPi4 using the same script. Both work well and I use either to view my cameras.

You shouldn't have a any problems using your asus router as your openvpn server while running pihole on a pi

OK, you have answered what I'm asking. Maybe I was not clear, as I am running OpenVPN on the Asus AC86U as the server. The Raspberry pi is only used to run Pi-hole.

I really fly by the seat on my pants on stuff like this as I'm not too sharp on networking stuff. I just follow instructions and hope it works. The reason I ask the question is I'd like to know any potential problems using my VPN and PI-hole before I dive in.

I run Pihole in a virtual machine on my server and openvpn on my opnsense router, different devices but sort of the same situation.
