Getting comfortable
The foe of many a camera here - thermal or otherwise.
That’s why I disable the ir on my thermals.
There is not an IR for my Thermal but I do have the IR Off on the Visual...found it really is weak for our big backyard...
Don't really need IR on the Visual since the Thermal does a great job in Detection...
To me, the best solution is a thermal and 4k/t or 4k/x at every camera location. With somebody else's money of course. Practically nothing gets undetected by the thermal camera, and rain and snow don't blind it. Big spiders? Calls for the flamethrower picture that's sometimes posted.
We are burning today, like how the Thermal protects itself...
Neat. I've never seen any of my thermal cams close a shutter due to a high temperature object in view. But I'm not sure mine have ever seen a bonfire.

Mine does that when the lawn service my neighbor uses with their big @$$ mower comes by - that engine must be hot LOL
Now I see why the shutter closed. We had to put out the Burn Pile last night, due to my stupidity thinking 10 mile an hour winds is no big deal, which apparently the small front that came through last night had wind gust which was blowing embers off the pile. Not good.

This is a case where my wife was right and I am now in the doghouse

Notice the black areas, that is where I watered down the grass/ground to the South,
also you will see the pile darken with the water being put on it, Dark is cold to Thermal.
This is sad but while looking at the pile burning at dusk I actually entertained staying out there all night with my water hose in hand to put out any fires that popped up. Then I realized how stupid that was, just put it out and burn another time. We started it that morning, knew it would take a couple of days to burn/smolder, like most of our burns have. We had very little to no wind all day long, then this small front came in. We read winds 7mph to 15 gust, then it changed to 10mph to 20 gust. 10 mile an hour winds is not real bad and I have monitored other fires at that speed but the gust is the problem.
This pile was a huge collection of tree grinding chips, mainly, with a few small logs and branches. Flames were gone early-late afternoon but started back up early evening/dusk...
Start of Burn (about 5 feet high and 7-8 feet long):
Good burn going:
Flames pretty much gone (we have a sizable clearing for our burn pile):

Been up and down all night checking on it...I am posting this so we are still here...

Hey guys, I just setup an Empiretech thermal camera. I was wondering if there was a way to turn off the hot spot dot? I'm trying to setup motion detection on the thermal channel and it keeps triggering with the dot bouncing around.
