I remember these rides, I had totally forgotten about them.
Maybe the Osborne machine was just ahead of its time. For a few years I occasionally traveled the country with a Compaq suitcase computer, to do debugging at customer sites. It was about the same size as the Osborne looks to be, and was heavier at 28 pounds. Big improvements over the Osborne were a larger 9" display and a hard disk. I traveled with the Compaq and 2 suitcases, and one of the biggest problems was airport escalators where I couldn't take the 3 pieces of luggage with me at the same time, making them vulnerable to theft while I made 2 escalator rides. Listening to what I just said, I realize that the airports also have elevators somewhere. The old dog learned a new trick since then! Reminds me of a meme from another thread showing a highly educated person who can't figure out which way the door swings.
