Getting the hang of it

I’m having an issue with my Wizmind NVR where it misses frames during continuous recording. I’ve tested different frame rate settings on the camera (20, 25, and 30 fps), but the problem still occurs. Installed 4 × 4TB Seagate SkyHawk Surveillance HDDs. Configured all 4 drives in RAID 0 to take advantage of combined speed and cache, but there was no improvement. Replaced the network cable from the PoE switch to the NVR with a UGREEN Cat 8 cable, and also upgraded the cable between the Asus Rapture GT-AX11000 router and the NVR. PoE switch (keepLiNK 8 Port Gigabit PoE Switch with 2 Gigabit Uplink, Ethernet Unmanaged PoE+ Switch @120W)
  • 2 x 12MP camera
  • 1 x 8MP camera
  • 4 x 4MP camera
Interestingly, when I check the footage directly from the cameras’ SD cards, there are no missing frames at all. I never had this problem with BI.
Has anyone else faced this issue, or have suggestions on what else I should try?

Does this problems shows over NVR web interface only?

Did you test hdmi interface? Smartpss and/or DMSS?
I noticed this issue when I tried to play directly from the NVR to the monitor using 8K-rated HDMI cable. Haven’t tried different cable. Live feed looks normal. Accessing the recorded footage from NVR on remote computer or on phone not much of fun, i found it bit of slower process and harder to fiddle around so haven’t played much of that part. DMSS works lot better and seem less when it comes to playing the footage from camera micro sd card.

If it were the web interface, there was a known issue in the 2024 NVRs firmware where, depending on the web browser and whether plugins were installed, the player could "skip" over video fragments.

In the case of HDMI, it works normally here. You'd have to show a video of your problem...

I’m on my work presently, once I get home I’ll upload the clip.

Camera has no mic but I can hear some sort of noise attached to the video footage. I don’t get that on board sd card footage.

if live view on NVR on this channel is OK, then next possible reason is bad HDD...

RAID0 is most stupid idea to do RAID matrix on NVR..
there is no redundancy there at all in RAID0...

All recordings are evenly distributed across 4 drives - failure of any one of them results in the loss of 100% of the recordings.
1 drive with smaller errors causes the same situation as yours in RAID0 for all recordings...

Remove this RAID... format each drive individually as on normal NVR... The NVR will record every hour on a different drive... A single drive failure will result in a loss of 25% recordings, not 100%...
If you really want to push the envelope, you can assign drives to two different groups... and the same goes for individual cameras/channels to two different groups... then half of the cameras will record only on the first group, and the other half on the second group...

yeaah that aint right

Do you by chance have SMD enabled along with IVS or other AI?

Is AI/SMD enabled on the camera or on the NVR or both?

IVS on camera and face detection on NVR side. Now I have turned off everything on my NVR including disabled recording intelligent alerts on NVR side in storage-schedule. Only normal recording is enabled. I’ll see how it goes.

I only asked because the few times Ive had similar glitches were when I had both IVS and SMD running simultaneously on a camera.

I'm sure @steve1225 is likely right in the RAID scenario

I created the RAID after when I detected this issue but I’ll change that again this afternoon. Its 4:15 am and going to sleep now. I’ll check back the footage when I wake up. Only normal recording is enabled nothing else on NVR side.

Did you configured properly storage -> schedule to store both General & Inteligent (AI events, blue line) on all channels for all 24/7 like on pic below?

All the recordings worked flawlessly with the general settings, with everything else turned off. No frames missing. I’ll move camera by camera to make additional settings after confirming that everything works correctly to see what and where affects the recording process.

For snapshots under the schedule, should I select General & Intelligent or just Intelligent? Also, when I play back footage under Search, I always have to uncheck the AI Rule box to remove the AI rule lines from the screen. How can I disable them permanently, but still have the option to enable them again if needed? I don’t want them to appear by default when I go to search and playback. It’s so annoying.

Yes I do intelligent only snapshots

Don’t think you can. Over time you may find them helpful. It allows you to see what rule and when it trips. Helps a lot in being able to fine tune rules. It’s really part art part science

Cool

You can set AI on the cameras, just try not to enable on both the NVR and camera. Some combinations of rules will be ok, others will tax the equipment like your frame skipping
