A friend asked for help switching his business's cameras (only 5) to a self monitored system. He was bent over backwards by a local company and is currently paying close to $500/yr for their app and off site management that he cannot change settings on. I currently use blue iris but he is less tech savy.

He's currently set up with a older unifi switch and an old OpenEye NVR. I have been leaning on having him get an Empiretech NVR from andy and setting him up with the DMSS for mobile viewing and notifications.

What are your guys thoughts and or recommendations.

Both work great and an easier learning curve than many software VMS, but there is still a learning curve.

I had some Axis cams years ago that ran on a Dahua NVR, worked fine but like any brand, certain proprietary functions may not be compatible. Always best to match the cameras to the NVR
