Hello,

At the moment I have a very old Dahua NVR (DH-NVR4232-4K). The onvif version of the NVR is 2.04.
I also have lots of chinese cameras that work great (see picture at the bottom :) , but motion detect doesnt work, even though it works with a chinese NVR.

I dug a bit deeper into this and read more about the different ONVIF versions and profiles and realised I need Onvif S to be able to let a NVR detect motion.
So, I found firmware with the actual name "ONVIF S" in the filename and flashed it onto my camera with success (General_IPC_XM535_80X30T.Nat.dss.OnvifS.HIK_V5.00.R02.20220627_all.bin)

Still no difference, beside the fact that the camera now can be configured in Chrome.

Now my questions :)

  • I am going to buy a new NVR and now I am curious if the old NVR doesn't "recognise" the motion because it is old? Does it matter if the NVR has Onvif 2.04 to be able to talk the right way with the camera that is running Onvif 16.12?
  • If it all is a gamble because the chinese cameras do not keep to the standard, do I have more chance to get it to work with a Dahua NVR or Hikvision NVR? Or maybe another good brand?
  • Has anyone got a XM530 and got motion detect working with a brand NVR?

Kind regards,
Henric

The problem is more likely to be due to the cameras not generating ONVIF motion event notifications.

Check this in the Events pane of ONVIF Device Manager by seeing if motion generates events that show in the pane.

It looks like this (no motion now and I cannot control this, because I have to wait until a bird visits)

Does this look like Onvif S to you? (because it says IsMotion: false) every second.

That looks like it should work, it's definitely giving motion detection event notifications.
That looks promising!
Still doubting on what NVR to buy though. I wished that some company would make a NVR with extreme compatibility.
The reason they don't do this is because they want the customer to buy their own cameras.
If only a company would make ONLY NVR's :) It probably is too much work.
The Hiseeu XM530 is a great outdoor camera for the money. You can't go wrong with a 40 USD camera with 5 megapixels, sound, night vision and a metal case. It outperforms my old dahua dome cameras that costs 4 times as much.

I should also have noted that it also needs to give an 'IsMotion: true' to be sure that motion detection is properly configured on the camera itself.

Yesterday, a bird finally visited the nest box when I was looking and I saw the "IsMotion: true" popup every second!
So I will buy a new NVR then. It is going to be the Dahua NVR5216-4KS2 or the NVR5232-4KS2 (Still in doubt, because I have 14 cameras)
