Night Images Of An 8MP 4K Camera With A 1/2.5 Sensor And A 1/1.8 Sensor Compared

Keep in mind I have no street lights, it was not a full moon and it was pitch dark outside. All settings are default.

Clearly the top image is more washed out, with brighter blacks. So the bottom image 'looks' better. But for CCTV purposes, I don't think there is any quantifiable difference between them. Both show the same detail near and far, on dark and on bright surfaces.

Noise reduction is also a lot more effective on the lower image. At least in a still image. Of course, a better comparison would be videos of moving objects.

But I suspect the older cam is no longer installed in that location, since the pictures were 6 days apart.

I adjusted the camera and it looks a lot better now at night. Compare the below image with my original image above of my old 4K camera with a smaller 1/2.5 sensor.
