We are not submitting still pictures at the County Fair, we care about getting clean captures of a perp in low light conditions.
Walk around out there at night and lets see a freeze frame of that motion.
That is what we care about here.
And then once you see its a blur, then you need to decide if increasing the shutter speed (and thus making the image darker) is worth it for the clean capture of someone walking around.
That is if that is your goal of the camera. If the goal is to have nice bright overview camera that you can see something is moving around out there but won't be able to ID them or it, then yeah it looks great. And nothing wrong with that. I have overview cams that do just that - nice and bright like it is noon so I can see further out, and then other cameras dialed in for clean captures.
