Need Help Resetting Q-See QTH85 DVR Left in Rental House

I recently moved into a rental house that came with an existing security camera system. The landlord told me the system was left behind and is mine to use, but nobody knows the login credentials.

The DVR is a Q-See QTH85 running Firmware N9000 1.0.3. It has a 2TB hard drive installed and appears to have 8 analog cameras connected.

When I attempt password recovery, I get a “Retrieve Password” screen with a “Dynamic Password” option. I do not have the original admin password, security questions, or any paperwork from the previous owner.

have full physical access to the recorder and can open the case if needed. If anyone has experience with this model or knows whether it shares hardware with another OEM DVR, I’d appreciate any guidance.

Thank you.

AI says this:

Method 1: Try Default Codes
Users in various community forums have suggested trying the following default codes on the login screen if the password has never been changed: [1]
  • Username: admin | Password: 6036huanyuan
  • Username: admin | Password: ttvvtthuanyuan
  • Username: admin | Password: 123456
  • Username: admin | Password: wsadws
  • Username: admin | Password: (Leave Blank) [1, 2, 3]

Method 2: Generate a Super Password (Master Code) [1]
If the default codes fail, you can use your NVR's specific date to bypass the lock. [1, 2]
  1. Note the exact Date and Time displayed on your NVR screen.
  2. Use a specialized tool like the CCTVAPP.NET Super Password Calculator or download a generic "Superadmin.exe".
  3. Enter the exact date shown on your NVR into the calculator.
  4. Enter the generated master code (e.g., Code 1, Code 2, etc.) into the password prompt. [1, 2, 3]

Method 3: Hardware Factory Reset (Last Resort)
If software methods fail, you can perform a hardware reset, which returns the device to factory defaults and removes the custom password: [1, 2]
  1. Find the Reset Button/Pinhole (usually located on the back panel of the QTH85).
  2. Power off the NVR.
  3. Press and hold the reset button (using a paperclip) while turning the power back on.
  4. Continue holding the button for 10-15 seconds until the device resets. [1, 2]
For further details on system navigation after gaining temporary access via a master code, consult the Q-See Service and Support Center to troubleshoot further. [1]

If all else fails. since you have 8 analog cams in place, consider a cheap 8 channel DVR that supports all AHD types (TVI/AHD/CVI/CVBS).
This one's only $50 and is shipped from the U.S. from a decent-rated eBay vendor here.

It supports HDMI and VGA video outputs.

NOTE: I cannot attest to the accuracy of the listing or the reliability of the vendor. You may finder a better one, but you get the premise of my suggestion.
