A longshot. Does anybody recognize this part or what it fell off of? The red plastic head is a hair over an inch in diameter. The only markings are "on" and "off" on the head for CW and CCW rotation. It had some oil on it, so between that and how it's built, it must be an on/off valve for some hydraulic device.

I found it in a pile of tools on the floor while I was swapping a rear strut on a Subaru. It couldn't possibly have anything to do with what I was working on, yet it's very troubling to find a loose part when finishing a job!

Hoover Dam #3 Spillover release valve. Explains Lake Meads lowering level.
you're right though....being bright red...with a rubber seal and right handed threads, could be hydraulic related. Rented any equipment in the recent past?

Could it be hydraulic fluid fill cap or ride regulator valve for the strut? Just spit balling since that is what you were working on

As long as it has nothing to do with a lift or jack that was holding up the Subaru while you were UNDER it I would not be too concerned. :wtf::lol:

I have a bunch of stuff, each one in a plastic storage bag, with the date and where I found the gizmo around the house or yard. Rarely have I ever figured out what it came off and it drives me nuts every time I look at the collection of bags. :banghead:

How'd all my shit which strangely disappeared here and there make it from Alabama all the way to Texas? :idk:
