Not cheap but I can highly recommend Arceserve Shadow Protect for backups and transferring between PC's. It can make an exact mirror of your PC and do a hardware independent update, so you can change hardware components that are tied to Windows such as CPU or motherboard, and it won't blink. Just choose hardware independent upgrade and it will install the clone onto the new pc irrespective of any hardware changes. The only downsides are the cost £100 and it can be a little complex in places as it's a professioanl backup utility. Unlike some non pro Apps, in my experience, the clones are perfect and cause no issues. You'll never know it's a restored or transferred image. There is a very expensive support licence you can renew. Personally, if you can use it fine, and your backups work, my advice would be skip the licence renewal and just don't upgrade the App to avoid any changes that might cause you need to support by causing changes in procedure. Of course if you're flush, you could just go with the peace of mind of support.
