This caught my eye. There is a version of MORTGAGE BACKED SECURITIES that is aimed at commercial property-- office space. Game-playing by banks with MBS in residential real estate resulted in the collapse of the real estate markets nationwide in 2008.

Wonder if this is the results from the Plandemic playing out over time. I still know alot of people no longer going into their offices, working at home. Building owners defaulting on their Mortgages due to empty space? I have had a couple of people tell me that their companies have downsized their offices, one said they were told that their office space was not going to renew their lease.

I am out of the business world so this is just my guessing that the Plandemic disaster is coming to a head.

It’s definitely part post Covid stupidity, part technological change, and part warning sign like many posts above it that the US economy is on the cusp of very bad times, primarily due to previous and current government spending and resulting money printing insanity.

Agreed

Well maybe those buildings will be occupied by robots in the future ;)

What I have seen/heard of is office buildings turning into Condos, even prior to the Plandemic. I contracted for a commercial ISP, last job with them about 10 years ago, we had to remove their equipment out of several office buildings in the Galleria area, 3 to 6 story buildings, that were being gutted and turned into Condos...

I’m sure some will. I’m not a commercial RE developer but I’m guessing some of that will happen in select areas where financially feasible and some may be turned into data centers, but a lot of it is and will be sitting empty for a while

Maybe Trump/Elon foreseen this? Reason DOGE was formed? I can only hope...I am sure no president wants to be part of an economic crash...

Congress will always spend/waste money unless they are fully gutted. I don't see the younger generation who will be eventually replacing them any better, actually I would guess worse, since they are in major debt, instant gratification, own nothing generation. Well that is how I see them...

Trump just pushed through historic deficit spending. He only cares about making it to 2029. Like the other super rich he’ll come out fine. He’s ego and short term focused
Elon has built businesses that will have demand regardless of geography or customer and I believe has a much longer and wiser view of the challenges ahead.
That’s why they clashed

I think you're right-- Sitting empty for a while would likely mean delinquent mortgage payments on the property.

Trump sent Nutlick out to defect from the horrible jobs report (See Money and Finance thread or article below this ppost) and this greasy used cars salesman blames it on people who need to be "taken out" making Trump look bad.. Seriously?
