My current setup:
N842A82 Fusion 4K NVR
8x E892AB 4K 8MP Bullet Cameras

I'd like to add a few more wired POE Cameras and a few (4 wifi cameras)

Does anyone know if there is a "Firmware hack" that can change it's programming or am I stuck with buying / upgrading my physical NVR to a Fusion 16 Port model?

Not possible. We get similar questions on other types of NVRs as well.

One of the reasons whey we always propose going with the higher number NVR.

It is a hardware limitation. The firmware is the same regardless of the number of channels.

And in this case add a bandwidth limitation. 80Mbps would prevent you from running all the cameras.

Heck, if you tried to run 8 4K cams at max bitrate you probably couldn't run all 8 on the device.

Thank you for your quick response.
I was thinking this might be the case but just had to ask.

Now my next dilemma is do I fall for the trap and stay with Lorex, they are suggesting I upgrade to their pro model that is Fusion and 16 channels.

However part of me is wondering whether I should take this opportunity to switch to Dahau brand as it seems many people say the purity of the Dahau firmware is much better.

The pro series would be closer to the Dahua firmware. At that point it comes down to cost.

My neighbor had Lorex and when he maxed out like you did, he ended up going with Dahua OEM (Empiretech brand sold by a member here) instead of Lorex because the Dahua was cheaper.

That it is!
