Looking for advice on my install locations.

It's still dusk here, so not quite dark, dark yet, but this is a transition capture that just happened. I'll chime back in with more in a bit. I will need to make some adjustments, I think some lenses are still on default Image settings.

I'm running the onboard Day/Night switch, so maybe it is switching too early.

Here is a dark capture at 16/22, not sure where to go with it from here. It looked much better on my phone screen than my PC screen, I am guessing because the smaller screen hides the noise better.

I wonder if some of it is a focal point issue, or maybe I am just used to 4MP and seeing 2MP just seems like there is something wrong with it. Am I asking too much of 2MP, even if it's on the right sensor?

Again, it's too bad we can't set the focus for the 25mm lens.

Thoughts?

@Ri22o The new position pic is bit better than the old one.
The camera lens is a fixed one, so not easy to control/adjust the focus via webpage, or what some other kinds of settings you want to do? Let me know, i will check if can do some adjustment on fw.

shutter is too low, the far channel gets only darker and worse(noisy/unsharp) with too low shutter speed. same i was writing in your old thread. same i saw when testing this cam.
you cannot run this cam with 5442 z4e settings, thats a different cam.

can you post any pictures with higher shutter ? range 0.01333 - 0.01666 , gain 0-30, ir auto ? as a try, not a solution

another possibily could be that the camera detects something on the other channels and reduce the infrared power, thats a bit tricky to deal with. this problem gets better when mounting the cam high, like jmcu shows in his review on youtube.

also one might be tricked of the pictures wittaj post. one will never get the same good looking pictures he show here. there can be many reasons why his pictures look so good. i tested all cams he showed. never was able to get anything similiar. worst nightmare for me is the mini ptz 25x. he showed pictures like dahua laser beam ptz and i was only able to get reolink picture.
maybe his whole street has floodlights installed, tons of IR backreflection,... who knows.

The last capture is 0-16 and gain at 0-22, I am not sure how much higher you want me to go. I am also not sure what .1333-.1666 range means.

There is no smart IR, so I don't know why it would reduce the IR power.

this cam has smart infrared. it will reduce/increase the infrared power on all channels, when there is detection. i have seen it working on recording walking through all channels. For me its working good, no overexposure on near , no underexposure on far channel.
It may work, maybe not. You can simply check if you just turn on manual on highest level. not brighter = already at highest level (auto)

I was just referring to your first two pictures on page11, where you said 3.33ms and 8.33ms and i missed a zero in my numbers.
if this is already 1/60 = 0.016667s = 16,67ms and higher gain like 30-35 does not help (or making everything worse), then there is not much you can do.

for me gain 20 sounds too low, but if its just show pixel mass, then this cam might not work for you. you can simply swap it to z4e, maybe this works better (?)

I finally found and uploaded the footage from 2018 of a kid who had been vandalizing our neighborhood for a couple weeks. I captured this with my Lorex MPX system. Needless to say, anything I have now is better than these captures, but I want to make sure going forward that anything I do will keep the odds of a good capture in my favor.

To me it's not great, but not terrible either. It looks like if somebody knew the person they would recognize them.
If I remember correctly, you don't have enough light to run in color?

This is one of the reasons I have a big PTZ. Helps with keeping an eye on things across the street, etc...

Yea, that's where I am with it. It's at a high potential of recognize, but not enough to ID, necessarily. I have some thoughts I am going to try tonight, but who knows if they will work.

My street is dark. No street lights, only the coach lights next to the garage doors on the houses and not everyone runs bright as day bulbs. I have added IR floods, but they only throw light so far.

That was my thought with the mini PTZ, to reach out a little further, but it's just not on the right sensor. I am looking to possibly replace it with a PTZ5A4M-25X if I can get over the hump of what my neighbors will think with it hanging from my lower soffit by my front door...

I feel ya on the neighbors thing. I still have people drive by, point and stare, or come up toe me while I'm out asking why I need all those cameras.
I've patiently explained how they're being tracked, etc.. everywhere they go with their phones, vehicles, cameras at every intersection, cameras on every LEO, cameras at every store, etc... but they still don't get wanting to help keep their house safe.
Of course they're also the ones who don't have an alarm system and are the first ones to ask for help if needed.
So at this point, I'm over it. I care but I don't care what they think anymore.

If I were you I'd get the PTZ. I'm sure there are people who have asked for you help, this just helps you to help them.
To me, my safety is more important than their little hissy fits.

I can just imagine what the neighbors think when the go by these peeking over the fence. I've seen them look and shake their heads. What they don't know is that I can hear them say as well: "why do they need so many cameras?" the other says: "maybe they're trying to hide something?" Either way, I couldn't care less. There are more cameras coming

For sure. No one thinks twice about cameras at stores, why can't I protect my stuff? Or any second thoughts about the FLOCK cameras tracking your every move around town. If I had a bunch of Ring cameras with solar panels, would that be ok?
