Hi everyone, I’m planning to deploy an AI camera system to monitor two waste disposal sites. The goal is to detect individuals who dump trash illegally and extract footage as evidence for penalties. The requirement is to use IP cameras.

+) The first site is about 2 km from the monitoring center, and we plan to install 2 cameras there.

+) The second site is about 4 km from the monitoring center (and also about 2 km from the first site), and we’re planning to install 2 cameras there as well.

Has anyone worked on a similar project? Is there any more optimal solution than running fiber optic cables from the monitoring center to these sites (since the distance is long and the terrain is difficult)?

I would really appreciate any advice or experience you can share. Thanks

Are we only talking about a "data" solution? In other words, do the remote sites already have power? If not, you will really need to find a way to add power at each location as well (even if it is a battery system with a solar charger or something similar).

There are long distance wireless solutions but ideally there should be a clear "line of site" between the locations. Given what you have said, I'm guessing the terrain probably doesn't allow for clear line of site.

I already have grid power available at all remote sites, so power isn’t an issue.

However, as you mentioned, the terrain isn’t clear line-of-sight — there are trees and some buildings in between.

Do you think a wireless PtP solution is still feasible in this case without running fiber?

Wireless is only feasible with clear line of site.

You need internet at both locations. That is the bottom line.
