Are there any experts on how to limit false alarms on a lorex system .. it's got the "SMART" motion type that appears to work well .. but it seems to be only with regular motion activated ... the regular motion senses way too much (shadows, bugs, wind blowing leaves, etc...) ... if I could just separate the too functions ... tech support is no help, they hire people to read from the manual ... the fine turnings are not in the manual .. the cameras are looking around the house back at the house ... asking a camera and computer to think is maybe over the top ... any comment is helpful in the matter ...

another idea (looking for zero false alarms ... stationary cams indoors looking at doors .. or possibly outside 5-10 ft looking at door or looking out and down .... which is best ... I know birds trigger alarms and that false is alright ...
Birds, nor car lights nor elephants set off false alerts on a system with quality equipment and properly setup

It detects any movement within the camera view, is not precise, and is inferior generally speaking to AI/IVS where you can specify a line, direction, and sensitivity as well as target (human, vehicle, animal)
It’s slightly better than old fashioned pixel change Motion Detection, but not by much

Sadly you have to either live with it or up the quality of your gear - either better cameras or as I mentioned BI with AI. You could also get a Dahua OEM NVR since Lorex is also made by Dahua, but using the AI of the NVR greatly reduces the capabilities of the NVR.
My neighbor started with that system and slowly upgraded to better cams with IVS rules.
Motion with Smart detection is just cheaper way to try to eliminate triggers, but they still happen way too frequently.
A camera with IVS AI will knock them out.

well how's about false alarms caused by the clouds changing the light from bright to dim during the day or at night when the cam goes inferred... or the wind causing the tree limb shadows to move around ... still can that be eliminated completely? ... also what brand has what you say is the best for eliminating false alarms?Birds, nor car lights nor elephants set off false alerts on a system with quality equipment and properly setup
Yes that’s easily eliminated and has been for years with AI/IVS technology.
Old fashioned MD by and large just senses a change in the contrast of a pixel and calls it an alert. That’s why clouds and shadows activate it.
The technology is 15-20 years old
SMD is a half assed attempt to layer old tech AI on top of dumb MD.
Dahua does a great job

You can use the Lorex NVR, but it will limit the capabilities of the cameras.
My neighbor used his Lorex and slowly replaced cams and after he got to the 4th Empiretech camera, he then replaced the Lorex NVR.
But that combination of NVR and cameras would be our suggestion.
