Anybody know what type of bird this is? The tip of the beak appears to be white.

Turkey vulture? The silver extends to the trailing edges of the wings....

The head does appear that it might be red, so the description appears to match the Turkey Vulture. Thanks...
Locals call 'em "turkey buzzards"......they (the birds) don't seem to mind.
A few months ago a coyote killed a neighbor cat on our property, and left it there. The turkey vultures were circling overhead, just like in the westerns, with a few of them on the ground at any given time. In about an hour they had the cat gutted and I thought they were done. The next time I looked the whole darn cat, minus only hind legs, was gone. The turkey vultures were assisted a bit by a few magpies. Those magpies are among the most beautiful birds but you can get to hate them pretty quick. Even worse than the bluejays.
