Just Upgraded to V6, One Camera keeps going down!

Ever since I upgraded to version 6, I have one particular camera that keeps going down with Socket Error FFFFFF 0 or something like that. The only way to get it back up is to restart my PC. If I try to restart just BI, it gets stuck on Stopping Service. It is the same camera every time. It is a Hikvision DS-2CD2443G2 cube camera connected via Powerline adapter and it worked fine under version 5. I have other Powerline-connected cameras of similar type that work fine. I did noticed that it was set up on H265, so I changed it to H264. No change. It still freezes up at least once a day. I've tried both version 6.0.1.13 and 6.0.0.1 and there is no difference. It's set up for Main Stream only, 15 FPS. When it goes down in BI, it is still visible in Hikvision IVMS, so I tend to think it is an issue specific to BI. This is the main camera covering my front yard, so it is important that it works, especially if I'm away.

Should I try to downgrade to version 5 (if possible)? This is very disconcerting.

When you restart BI are you just closing the console or are you restarting the BI Service?

Have you looked in the status at the log file, any errors that refer to the problematic camera?

When the camera freezes, have you tried to access the camera directly via its web page, does the camera respond to a "ping"?

You could also try using the discover button again and see if that makes any difference, you can also try adding it as a new duplicate camera (do not clone the camera) this might help determine if the config for that camera is corrupted, next is deleting the camera and recreating the camera, after deleting the camera and before re-adding it again you may have to edit the registry to make sure all traces of the camera are gone!

Bruce, I can pull the camera up fine in Hikvision IVMS and view live video. In BI v6.0.1.13, the log for the suspect camera shows it is still running, showing the bitrate, FPS, Motion, Triggers, and Webcast. However, the camera view in the console is frozen, and doing a restart of the camera in BI just puts up black and white static. Now the log shows "Abandoning camthread thread 2", whatever that means. There are no other errors shown. I can't stop the service without restarting the PC. It just gets stuck on "Stopping Service".

I will try recreating the camera. But it takes several hours for the issue to come up, so I guess I'll have to wait and see.

I should have NEVER upgraded to v6! Is there a way to revert back to v5?

Have you tried to disable the camera, I have read about corrupted camera configs that will cause the entire BI system to become unstable or unresponsive! I am not sure what would be involved in going back to V5, do you have a v5 and V6 BI showing when you look at installed apps, did you do an uninstall of V5?

When you upgrade to V6 did you download the full version from the BI site, if you did the V5 to V6 upgrade that was offered inside BI then it might be causing your problem, it is an easy fix to correct!

I would suggest that you delete and recreate the camera as a first step, are you comfortable with using REGEDIT top make sure that the camera has been completely removed?

I deleted and created a new camera in BI and the same issue (frame bottleneck) occurred after about 2 hours. I went ahead and replaced the camera with a backup I had laying around. Changed my powerline adapter as well. New IP Address. Created a new camera in BI with a different name. We'll see how this goes. Also sent email to BI Support. We'll see if Ken has any ideas. Oh, of course, I deleted v5 like a dope. v6 was installed with full version.

Is this camera connected via an powerline ethernet adapter, have you considered the possibility that it might be the bottle neck, I have never used one but have wondered if using your electrical wiring to transmit streaming data is a good idea????

Could you connect the problematic camera directly via a real ethernet cable and see if the same thing still happens, at least as a test!

EDIT, you did say that it works fine in the camera app, so this is probably not the issue, the mention of frame bottle neck is what caught my eye in this regard!

Well, that didn't fix it. It froze again, with "frame bottleneck" error. I'm pretty sure now that the issue is due to constant viewing by about 4 remote devices, either UI3 or the Android app. I NEVER had this issue with BI 5 or even BI 4!

Did you try the camera direct connected with an Ethernet cable? Viewing the camera with multiple devices could possible create a high bandwidth situation for the camera that it can not get through the powerline ethernet device, or simply the camera can not sustain. I can't explain why this would have changed since BI 5, but it would be worth confirming to eliminate that as a cause!

I emailed BI Support with all the details. This has to be related to the constant remote viewing, since the issue occurs on TWO different cameras with different IP addresses. I also downgraded to 5.9.9.73 and THE ISSUE DID NOT REOCCUR! So I will no longer troubleshoot on my end, as it is NOT a camera issue, but a BI issue.

Again, this issue did NOT occur prior to me foolishly "upgrading" to v6. It's now in Ken's hands.

I had a similar issue when I first upgraded from 5.9.9.73 to 6. Every time I started BI about 4 cameras would not connect for a minute or longer. As soon as I re-configured it to run as a service, the problem hasn't happened again.

I've been running it as a Service all along. That is not the issue, and the camera is not the issue. It is related to constant remote viewing.

I just got the issue again. I think it happened when I tried to view the camera on an additional device. So, back to the drawing board. I need the full version of BI 5, since I tried to downgrade from v6 to v5 using the upgrade file for 5.9.9.73, so perhaps v6 is still there.
