It's not just Costco

I can't fucking stand it. People have no common sense or courtesy at that store.
I remember completing checkout and heading out into the parking lot when one of the Costco employees (Cart pushers) accidentally slammed the procession of carts into the rear passenger side quarter panel of a "Mercedes Benz SUV". The driver (entitled Costco customer) got out of the car, yelled at the young fellow and decided to push him to the ground. Costco shoppers were not interested in helping out the kid - instead a dozen or so Costco shoppers took their phones out to record the action. Eventually, police were called to the scene.

Costco is the perfect place to loose part of the IQ :(

I have Costco, Sam's, and BJ's memberships. If Costco didn't have some specific things I go there for, I would drop it. Unfortunately they all have the things that they do better or only they have.

At least Sam's allows you to scan and check out in the app. Costco check out is the worst thing in the world.

Every Costco check out, but imagine pallets and other shit in the way:

It's everywhere. Most of it is cultural I believe but there are of course lack self awareness or just don't give a fuck about anyone else. The world is like a video game and they act like they are just players in a game built for them. This is the same mentality of those who think it's okay for their kids to run wild and allow others to babysit their kids in a restaurant or store. And I swear, for some it's purposeful like it's a control/power thing. You see the same thing at the gas pump where the person in front of you takes their sweet time to start the car and leave the pump after filling.

Oh, and I forgot about the time I was shopping and a cart was a little in the way. I scooted it to the side so I could get past. The lady lost her shit. EXCUSE ME!? COULD YOU NOT ASK ME TO MOVE MY CART??!! I told her to not leave it in the way, and to have a nice day.

A week or so ago my 72 y/o wife who is VERY sight impaired because of macular degeneration almost tripped and busted her ass in a small local restaurant because a local customer allowed her 2 year old to run amuck screaming around the tables, round and round, like a banshee. I came sooo very close to stopping the kid and telling her "not everyone thinks your kid is as cute as you do."

And dontcha just love it when someone pulls into a gas station and both pumps are empty but they don't pull down to the far one but instead stop at the first one to gas up so you have to manuever around them and back up? Like they're the only one in the world? Women seem to do this more than men.

It's like "Hey everybody...did y'all realize the sun rises and sets every day just for me?" :smash:

Costco is just a little higher up the ladder than Walmart, but both have the same stupid. I hate going to both.
Yeah....Wally World has its own dress code if you will....come as you are or however you feel.....you can't shock or offend anyone, it seems.

My Costco experiences have been close to opposite of what's been reported above. I see Costco stores as clean, well run, with eager, polite, and efficient employees, and the fastest checkout of anywhere. I'm not preaching that everything is great. The worst for me is how they keep moving things around, making them hard to find, with little ot no help available for that. What you go there for may or may not be on the shelf. If you're not careful you can easily end up paying more for some things compared to other stores. 10 years ago it was hard for me to get out of Costco spending less than $200. Then it kept creeping up with inflation until the exit fee for my family is now around $500. But I've never seen the negative examples of what's posted so far. Maybe it's a regional thing? The Costco is almost always crowded, but I'm not in one of the huge cities.

Moving products is their MO and is why everything on pallets. Inventory can be moved by one person, and now you need to go look for it. While looking, you stumble across something else you didn't need, but buy anyways, and all they had to do was move the Pirate's Booty two aisles over.

Our local Costco is their single largest store - probably built to accommodate Mormon families I'm guessing. But I agree, tigerwillow1, their checkout is super helpful and gets it done fast. They have moved to a two-person checkout that can be scanning two orders at once which keeps the line moving fast for the amount of people and items they have to process. It's also true about sometimes they have something and sometimes not, but usually those things are not essentials. I usually hate any big box store, particularly Walmart and by extension Sam's Club. From what I understand Costco is a decent company to work for, they treat their employees well with reasonable benefits. So that plus the fact that I bought their stock at $127/share a few years ago, has made me a fan!

This marketing method has been in plac ea long, long time and it still drives me nuts. It rewards impulse buying and/or NOT having and sticking to a shopping list.

You've been going to "Acme's Useless Crap" for about a year now and you're in there maybe as often as twice a week so you've memorized about where everything is...until you go back about week 53 and everything has been moved. Now you get to walk around looking for what you actually came for but instead wind up with more crap you don't need but felt like you couldn't do without it.

FWIW, Costco has not slacked off on their commitment to DEI. I don't shop at Costco and would go out of my way to shop elsewhere, even if less convenient, not as economical and with less selection.

I also have commitments and standards. I wish them well.

Not slacking off on their commitment to DEI is even more reason to shop there, thanks!

I have no problem with Costco itself... It's the patrons that piss me off. Other than the complete lack of cart discipline (stay to the RIGHT SIDE of the aisle, keep cart to the side to allow passing, let others through), there are the "free sample" hogs who cut the line and grab 10, the untethered little shits running around, the family of 10 that feels the need to walk 10 abreast, The old [insert racial stereotype here] that move at about 10 steps per minute but are on a beeline course and expect you to move out of their way.

Those are the things that piss me off.
