The UAE Spent 40 Years Building Its Advanced Air Defense For Iran War

Abu Dhabi operates several ground-based air defense systems from various countries, as well as a formidable fighter fleet. Despite this, the sheer scale of Iranian attacks, targeting everything from military bases to energy facilities and hotels, has undoubtedly put a strain on these finite defenses. Since the start of the war, the UAE has reported extremely high intercept rates of the incoming Iranian munitions. As of Friday, it estimates it has intercepted a total of 338 ballistic missiles, 15 cruise missiles, and 1,740 drones since February 28.

Boots on ground, to some degree, looks imminent

Today we're looking into new assessments that boots on ground are likely in Iran. From General Mattis saying we're in a tough spot, to the Wall Street Journal publishing an article saying it's the only way forward, it seems like this has turned from a maybe to a matter of time. We also look at a Washington Post article suggesting that we're moving towards the Strait of Hormuz as the overriding priority right now, which does seem to line up with recent statements, and would show that we're reacting now to Iranian moves.
