ah .. yes .. from the one who ordered the bombing of Pan Am 103
Muammar Gaddafi never admitted personally ordering the 1988 Lockerbie bombing, but his government accepted state responsibility in 2003 to lift UN sanctions, paying over $2 billion in compensation to victims' families. In 2011, Libya’s former Justice Minister Mustafa Abdul Jalil claimed to have proof that Gaddafi gave the direct order to intelligence agent Abdelbaset al-Megrahi, the only person ever convicted of the attack.
The bombing of Pan Am Flight 103 killed 270 people, making it the deadliest terrorist attack in British history. While Gaddafi’s regime was implicated, he was assassinated in 2011 before facing trial. In 2020, US authorities indicted Abu Agila Masud, a Libyan intelligence bomb-maker, who allegedly confessed to building the device on Gaddafi’s orders; Masud is currently in US custody awaiting trial.
