The ships Iranians had didn't have any modern capabilities. It's like those Ukraine ships that was moored in their port. Good for anti piracy or piracy operations but not against a modern naval ship.IMHO, a "maritime/naval battle" implies ship-to-ship battle. I would not categorize ship-to-shore or vice versa as a maritime/naval battle, ergo my sarcastic commentary. I don't really see the Iranians in the water at this point unless it's just peeing in their pants. The ship-to-shore and shore-to-ship battle is already going on.
But they do have Kilo class submarine. In a high traffic shipping lane it could technically take out a war ship. Finding a submarine is still a tough job.
