I have noticed there has recently been a lot of news about a flaw found in the intel line of cpu's.... is this a concern at all for BI? I understand the benefit of using intel cpu for BI but is this concerning enough to use a better AMD cpu instead? ....for a new setup

No. You don't really need to worry about security vulnerabilities in a CPU if you don't run untrusted code on it. (Web browsing is the most common way this will happen in a home setting)
