IPC-T54IR-ZE-S3 Motion Detection via IVS not working properly

I just got this camera and I'm having a hard time figuring out why motion detection via tripwire or intrusion are being triggered outside the drawn areas. I have two rules; one intrusion (effective target: human) and one tripwire (effective target: motor vehicle) and while these objects are being triggered inside the drawn areas, they're also being trigged outside of it.

I have the camera facing my frontyard where one portion (excludes the sidewalk and street) is marked as an intrusion for when a person appears or crosses it. But whenever a person walks on the sidewalk or a car drives by on the street I can see in the video using Chrome that the video overlay shows it's counting a person walking on the sidewalk and a vehicle is counted when it drives by on the street. Both the sidewalk and street are outside the IVS rules. It then triggers a motion detection notification. I have the person/vehicles counters enabled as an overlay so I can see as soon one or both of these are triggered.

Any ideas? It seems the IVS rules are being ignored and it's just using the entire set Area under Event -> Video Detection -> Motion Detection -> Area Setting as the area to trigger (which is the entire FOV of the camera).

Make sure you have MD and SMD off.

Post screenshots of your settings.

Also make sure you are using Internet Explorer...yeah we know but it is still available.

SMD is forced off when AI is used. I turned Motion Detection off now. Same problem however.

I turned off acupick and re-enabled IVS. But what and where is this min size 0,0 option? I don't have any option related to choosing the minimum size (I assume object).

It is best to start with min object size as 0,0 to let AI do its thing. When a size is added, then the AI is less sensitive.

Only add a minimum size IF getting false.

Almost all of mine are 0,0.

What browser are you using? A min and max size object should show up on the IVS page.

Thanks Wittaj, I do set Min to avoid squirrels, just trigger on deer. But that isn't reliable... subject size varies with distance, so a large min size might be appropriate close to cam, but too big further away. I'll try 0,0 and see how that works.

Yorkman, the min size box is just to the right of the preview image... the bar on right size that has "min" below the square icon.

I need to set lines to exclude things like the sidewalk, street and portion of the neighbour. Setting a box won't let me draw the specific boundaries I need.

What do you mean?

The min size box has no bearing on where it is in the field of view. It is simply a box defining the size of an object wherever the object appears.

I think you might be confusing the box size and boundaries. The Min box square just defines the trigger size. Anything smaller than the box won't trigger (in theory). It doesn't matter where that box is when you draw it, just how big. The boundaries for tripwires or intrusion are another matter. They don't have anything to do with size, they just define where an object enters or crosses. So that's where it matters where those lines are.

Ahhh ok I understand now. I thought that was another way to set the boundary for the intrusion/trip wires. Man. I'll play with that and see where it gets me.

Also, I'm using Synology Surveillance to check my notifications/motion alerts. Camera was added as Generic Dahua, in case this matters. But from what I see, the objects (person/car) are highlighted when they cross the boundaries. The only problem is it keeps detecting them outside of it too (sidewalk, street which are excluded).

We have seen instances where if someone wasn't using Internet Explorer that MD was still turned on even when it showed off in another browser.

So I would suggest Explorer and confirm MD is indeed turned off.

And without seeing your rules, we don't know if a person is crossing another boundary even if you have excluded the sidewalk. You have to think more in 3D with these IVS rules.

Thanks wittaj. I am using Internet Explorer as you can see in my screenshots, along with the rules. I just don't want to post the pics in case my neighbour sees them. And I have just the two rules. Could it be that one zone is drawn within the other, even if one rule is set to human while the other is set to cars? I don't know what else to try really. It should just work only for wherever the trip wire is. Why the heck would it count people and cars that are nowhere near the trip zones is beyond me.

Btw, does it perhaps count people/cars wherever they appear in the fov? Because I'm expecting them to be counted only when the zones are tripped.

IVS by itself will NOT display or count human/vehicle numbers on the overlay

That is VMD doing that. And VMD is targeting the entire screen

Turn OFF AcuPick AND VMD

Thanks bigredfish. Yes I disabled AcuPick so only IVS is now enabled. And no more counters on the overlay. Unfortunately there are people walking on the sidewalk every few mins and I keep getting an alert even though the sidewalk/street are outside of the IVS rules for both cars and people. This is the problem that's just breaking my balls all day long.

You may need to post (and then remove) or DM one of us your FOV with the rules on so we can see what is going on.

Based on what you are saying, either MD is still on or part of a person is crossing a line.
