I’m looking for advice regarding my 2 years old IPC-HDW5842TP-ZE-S3 camera. It seems to be dead. For a couple of weeks, it was intermittently turning on and off, and now it’s completely dead. I’ve tried different PoE switch ports, a different PoE switch, and different Ethernet cables, but no luck. I was planning to factory reset it and reflash the firmware, but before I could do that, it stopped powering on entirely. There are no LEDs and no network activity at all.

Did you use dielectric grease on the connections?

Whether it is exposed to rain or not, any connection outside can have condensation build up from he heating and cooling of water vapor in the air.

Deoxit does wonders if that was the case.

We have many threads here were someone claims the connection is completely covered and they don't see corrosion and blah blah blah, but when they reluctantly give deoxit a try, low and behold the camera starts working because it removed corrosion that couldn't be seen.

Try disconnecting the POE and power it up with a 12VDC wall wart and see if the camera powers up, the circuitry inside the cam that converts POE to 12VDC and/or other needed internal voltage(s) may be bad.

I’ll try this method once I manage to get the correct power supply.
