I'v never attached a microphone to the line-in connection. Will the PoE from the camera power the mic or is a splitter needed to power both devices? Thanks in advance to any help!

You will need to power the microphone somehow.
A POE splitter could do, POE cable -> POE splitter to 12v -> 12v to mic & 12v input of camera, data/network to the camera's network port. Then connect microphone to the camera's line in.

Thanks! That's what I was thinking but wanted to make sure.

The PRO cameras have a 12 volt pigtail output connection to power a mic. I think they all have it, but check the individual model datasheet to be sure.
