Not sure if this is permanent of temporary but I no longer have the option to run in Internet Explorer Compatibility Mode anymore in my Edge browser (the option is totally missing/gone). Since I don't have any Windows 10 machines left that were still capable of running Internet Explorer, this posed a problem for viewing my Dahua cameras as I lose access to a lot of functionality without that mode (viewing IVS stuff on Live cameras, searching videos on the camera or NVR and showing IVS stuff, additional searching capabilities, etc.).

I found a helpful thread here: Edge lost option to reload in IE mode - Microsoft Q&A which shares how to RE-ADD this feature by opening a Command Prompt (needs to run in Admin Mode) and entering a reg edit command as follows -> reg add "HKCU\Software\Policies\Microsoft\Edge" /v InternetExplorerIntegrationLevel /t REG_DWORD /d 1 /f

I can confirm that after adding that reg entry, I once again I have all the features of the original Internet Explorer.

(I never had any luck retaining 100% IE compatibility with Firefox or Chrome FWIW, so I always resort back to IE).

That being said, it's been ages since I've been on this site, but glad to see some of the old school regulars still posting regularly, @wittaj and others who've helped me so much along the way. I've learned sooo much here over the years and my 5442's and ColorK-4X cameras are still doing a good job overall (recently made some tweaks to a nighttime profile to increase shutter speed, add more ambient lighting, and use WDR to come really close to eliminating full-on direct headlamp glare on my driveway camera, and now being I can see license plates and still have enough overall lighting to have vehicles properly trigger IVS/tripwires, etc.) Wouldn't have been able to do that without all the prior help I received here from the awesome folks here.

Regards,
J

Welcome back!

Many of us use IE and it is still native to Win10 and 11

How to enable native Internet Explorer in Windows 10 and 11:
  • Open Notepad:
    • Copy then paste the single line of code below into Notepad:
    • CreateObject("InternetExplorer.Application").Visible=true
    • Save as OpenIE.vbs
  • Make sure the the file name ends in .vbs not .txt, If it ends in .txt you must rename to .vbs
  • Create a shortcut to the above file and double-click it anytime you want native Internet Explorer.
