Insulation Tape over IR (Turret Camera)

Hi All.

I have a situation where the camera mounting position is on the back of a property with a very narrow access. The camera's IR is hitting a conifer tree and effectively making the rest of the image useless. Moving the camera's position will have no effect as it will just stare at a wall with the same issue. Is there a way to narrow down the IR emitted, say by covering parts of it with insulation tape?

Shut off the IR in the camera, and get an IR emitter. Like one of these, they work great: https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B01G6K407Q/ref=oh_aui_search_detailpage?ie=UTF8&psc=1

Then you point it wherever you want. Mount it just above the ground, and point it down the side of the house.

The one I linked to is good for up to about 150 feet and is powered by a regular old 12V camera supply. Would require another wire run, but they work.
