This is related to my post about ditching my Ring doorbell, but I thought it needed its own thread.
I was able to successfully get a full refund on my Ring Doorbell that I purchased in 2019.
I had decided to just remove the doorbell, let it sit in a box, and cut my losses, but after watching a video on Youtube that mentioned years old purchases being refunded, I did some further research. I found that with the recent Super Bowl ad, and their agreement with Flock, if you press the Amazon Customer Service Agent you might be able to get your item(s) refunded. I did some additional searching to try and find verbiage and reasons for my case. After putting it off for a few days, I had some time this morning was successful with getting a refund.
If anyone else has Ring devices and you are wanting to remove them, or have removed them, give this a shot and you could get your items refunded. My experience went a lot smoother than others I read where it took 3-4 agents and special "one-time exemptions" from a supervisor, but just be nice about it.

- Talk to an agent, not a chatbot. Keep saying "connect me to an agent" until you are prompted to connect.
- Just be polite in your request.
- If they offer a partial refund: decline their offer, reiterate the points below, and ask for a full refund. If needed, escalate to a supervisor.
- Points to make:
- Due to changes in the Terms of Service, User Agreement, and the company's agreement with Flock invalidating the reason I made the purchase, I would like to return my XXXXXXXXX from Order # XXXXX.
- With the new data sharing and AI features the device is now materially different than what I originally purchased. ("materially different" is apparently verbiage from the ToS and further validates your reasoning for a return)
