I picked up a VIKLIN 6MP N601L-IR turret camera recently and I'm putzing with it through a browser. It wants me to download / install some sort of plugin (PlayerOcxSetup.zip) but so far I haven't installed it. I can interact with the camera well enough using a browser (FF) so I'm not sure what the plugin is for. What I don't see in the camera live view is any sort of audio control. In the live view I'm not hearing any audio, no audio-enable button.

I've never had a 2-way audio camera before. The Dahau cameras I have all have mic's and their audio is controllable and playable through the browser. How does one send audio to these camera with built-in speakers? Using a browser?

First of all: I have no idea about VIKYLIN cameras. :)

If you use Dahua cameras - as I do - you are likely familiar with the plugin and know that Dahua cameras still "require" it today (even with Web version V5.1.x) to display all the options in the Web GUI. This is the ActiveX plugin for the Internet Explorer browser. Since I assume VIKYLIN cameras are OEM models or clones of Dahua cameras, you will only be able to see all the camera's Web GUI functions and options when using the old Internet Explorer on Windows.

So, you should:
1. First, check whether you have enabled audio in the camera's setup menu.
2. Use Windows and the old Internet Explorer (if available), install the plugin as an administrator, and then observe how the Web GUI view changes compared to the view in Firefox.

Alternatively, you could try using the VIKYLIN app.

@sumguy, in addition to the above should you want to reveal and use Internet Explorer in Win 10 or 11, there's this:

How to enable native Internet Explorer in Windows 10 and 11:
  • Open Notepad:
  • Copy then paste the single line of code below into Notepad:
  • CreateObject("InternetExplorer.Application").Visible=true
  • Save as OpenIE.vbs
  • Make sure the the file name ends in .vbs not .txt, If it ends in .txt you must rename to .vbs
  • Create a shortcut to the above file and double-click it anytime you want native Internet Explorer.
